Happy first week of November!

It’s GO TIME, folks. It’s time to dive in and get our hands dirty, panic over the number of paydays remaining for the year, and wonder when El Niño will hit my neck of the woods. I’m already recognizing the signs that I’m thinking I have enough time for all the projects I want to tackle by the end of the year and I am trying to add these projects to my calendar so I can spend some focused time on them…time to get shit done or realize it’s a dumb move and I need to focus my energies elsewhere.

Speaking of energy, I’m anxiously waiting for my December Daily album to arrive so I can get started on some foundation pages for 30 Days of Lists / December Daily® since we’ll be opening registration soon (subscribe to our newsletter here) and things will be a blur before I know it.

This week’s essential reading:

It’s Friday. Time for some bourbon cocktails

Would travel blogging be better if bloggers focused more on storytelling?

I shared a list of a few of the books I picked up to help improve my writing. I was helping edit my sister-in-law’s statement of purpose for grad school and I figured it wouldn’t hurt to pick up these classics to up my writing game

Ali Edwards just opened the classroom for this year’s December Daily® challenge. If you’re worried about tackling a project life this during what may be the busiest time of your year, Kristin has some tips for staying motivated

If you’re interested in sharing your scrapbook (or other creative projects) on video, Jen Schow shares her basic tools for creating her process videos. She works in her basement so she doesn’t have perfect natural light like every other YouTuber seems to have, so it’s nice and practical advice…

…I’m adding her “how to use .png cut files as digital stamps on photos” video for viewing this weekend

I’m adding this Thug Kitchen cookbook (Amazon affiliate link) to my wishlist because I think 2016 is going to be the year I start cooking like an actual adult-type-person. We got a cast iron skillet and an awesome cookbook as a wedding gift and much of last Sunday was spent cleaning the damn thing because of course we didn’t read the instructions ahead of time. I wanted to throw it over the balcony at one point, but we managed to scrub it and re-season the damn thing thanks to this cast iron skillet cookbook (also an Amazon affiliate link)

Are you gearing up for the holidays? Start stocking up on greeting cards (the basics like plain cards, thank you cards, and maybe even your holiday cards), stamps, frozen dinners (that you make yourself or buy from the store), and vitamins. You’ll thank me later for this advice
