Tourist – VITUR
With effect from 27th Jan 2015, the visa section at the Embassy of Brazil only accepts applications for which documents have already been scanned into the system at the time of filling in the visa application form online. The basic documents that need to be scanned are:-
Photograph, Signature and covering letter mentioning the purpose of travel and tentative outcome of the trip.
Invitation letter (if applicable)
Passport (bio-data page and the page containing parents’ name and address).
Any other document as deemed necessary by the applicant. Any visa application not complying with the above will be returned at the counter itself.

This visa is issued for the following categories:
Strictly for Tourism (sightseeing, vacations, etc.).
Seminars / Conferences (if participating without pay).
Sports Competitions (if participating without pay/prize money and no entry tickets are sold).
Art Contests (if participating without pay / prize money and no entry tickets are sold).
Families of seafarers joining ship.
Short term Rotary exchange (not more than 2-3 months).
Cruise Travelers.
The Applicants’ passport should not expire less than six months from the planned arrival date in Brazil. The passport should have one blank page available. You must also bring the photocopies of the first 2 pages and last page of the passport.
Applicant needs to complete the Online Visa Application Form from the link given as: – https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp
After you fill the form, you will be requested to take a print out back to back. Signed by the Applicant only, glue your photo on the specified place. (Parents must sign for minors under 18 years old).
Embassy will no longer accept the physically filled visa forms. Please note it is mandatory.
One latest photograph (5cm x 4cm) with good quality, front view, white background and all facial features should be clearly visible, should be pasted on the printout. Snapshots, computer pictures and touched up photographs will not be accepted.
A covering letter signed by the applicant and addressed to the Embassy giving details of the proposed trip.
Letter from the organization which is sponsoring the trip.
Proof of financial capability to pay for one’s stay in Brazil (copy of international credit card with proof of credit limit / foreign exchange endorsed on the passport etc.).
Income Tax returns of last three years.
Bank statement of last six months.
A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number.
All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name, designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory.
All communication from India, addressed to the Embassy must be shown in original only.
Applicants are advised to get the international vaccination certificates that are required when returning to their country of origin, such as yellow fever.
Attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas (if applicable).
Embassy does not process same day visas. It generally takes from 3 to 4 working days to process the visa application.
Once issued, visas must be used within 90 days from the date of issue else they become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa.
Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil.
The Embassy may request additional information / documentation, if deemed necessary.

Letter from the organization who will be sponsoring the trip.
Signed invitation letter from the organizers mentioning the following:
a) Details of the proposed visit of the applicant,
b) Details if the applicant wills receive any monetary benefits.
Amateur Athletes/ Participants of Art Contests: Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.
Signed invitation letter from the organizers of the competition/contests, providing specific information on:
a) The activity to be performed;
b) Location and duration of the activity/event;
c) If he prize money (if any) is from Brazilian sources or not;
d) If there will be sale of entry tickets/passes for the event;
e) Any monetary benefits that the applicant may receive;
f) Responsibility to see that the applicant returns back to India.
Sea Farers Families / Supernumeraries: Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.
A letter from the shipping company as per format.
Copy of husband’s passport.
Copy of husband’s CDC with the relevant validity page.
Copy of husband’s contract / assignment letter.
Copy of the Marriage certificate.
Short Term Rotary Exchange Program: Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.
Letter from the Indian rotary giving details of the selection process and confirmation of selection.
Letter from Rotary in Brazil giving details of Host family mentioning clearly that they would be responsible for the applicant while in Brazil and would ensure the applicant returns back to India after program.
Cruise Travelers: Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.
The cruise ship’s itinerary with the traveler’s name clearly indicated and proof of payment.
A round-trip ticket to and from the cruise’s port of departure and arrival.

Eligible candidates under this visa:
Scientists, Professors, Technicians, Teachers or professionals of other categories holding an employment contract with a Brazilian organization or corporation.
Professionals traveling to render service to the Brazilian Government.
Business travelers if trip involve technical support of any nature in Brazil. Typical activities include jobs contracted with a Brazilian company or individual, technical jobs and / or training performed at an affiliate company in Brazil, franchise operation activities, evaluation and/or repair of equipment installed in Brazil or sold to a Brazilian client, technology transfer, etc.
For professional training immediately after completing of a technical school or university course without a work contract.
An employee of a foreign company being posted as a trainee in the subsidiary or Brazilian branch of the company, whose remuneration will be paid exclusively abroad by the foreign company.
Professor travelling to Brazil for training in an institute of foreign languages.
Ship Crew member of foreign vessels operating in Brazilian territorial waters by a contract signed with the Brazilian company to provide services or risk.
Ship Crew members of foreign fishing vessels rented by Brazilian companies.
Ship crew members and other professionals who exercise remunerative activities on board cruise ships plying along the Brazilian coast, Amazon basin or any inland waters.
How to Apply:-
Applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Labour in Brazil by the sponsoring institution or company in Brazil at the following address:

Only after approval by the Ministry of Labor in Brazil will the Ministry of Foreign Relations authorize processing the Visa. At this stage, the applicant should follow the steps for how to apply and submit additionally the following documents to the Embassy:
The Applicants passport should not expire less than six months from the intended arrival date in Brazil. The passport must have one blank page available. Applicant must also bring the photocopies of the first 2 pages and last page of the passport.

Police clearance (PCC) of the applicant duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
Health certificate duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years (If the child cannot be inoculated, attach a notarized letter from the child’s physician). Polio certificate / letter must be duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi.
Visas should be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they will become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa;
Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil.
Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas.
Once the application has been submitted for visa, the applicant / travel agent will have to wait for the compulsory 24 hours before making any enquiry.
All communication from India, addressed to the Embassy must be in original only.
All photocopies submitted must be clear, intelligible and valid.
Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates that are required when returning to their country of origin, like yellow fever.
All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name, designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory.
All documents from Brazil must be notarized in Brazil and submitted with the original notaries seal visible.
Applicants must present themselves along with the visa application form given to them by the Embassy for registration with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days of arrival.
Visa processing time is seven to ten days.
Embassy can ask for the personal presence of the Applicant.
The Embassy may request additional information / documentation as deemed necessary.

In Transit to Another Country (passing through Brazil on the way to another country). A transit visa is not required if the foreigner doesn’t leave the international transit area of the Brazilian international airport and has a confirmed onward ticket to a final destination in a third country.

This visa is issued for the following categories.
Travelers on business trips (prospective meetings, signing contracts, sales promotion, etc).
Participating in Trade Fairs.
Media coverage or filming.
Flight/ship crewmembers not holding an international crew card.
Adoption of a Brazilian child.
Individuals involved in installation, service and / or repair of equipment or provision of any kind of technical assistance in Brazil do not qualify for a business visa. They require a Temporary Visa V (Work Permit).

A letter from the Indian company (on its letter head) where the applicant is employed, stating the employees’ name and title, how long the employee has been working for the company, purpose of visit with complete details of the proposed trip (detailed on business discussions) and that it assumes full liability regarding the applicants business pursuits and his expenses connected with the visit.
Invitation letter from Brazil on the company letter head clearly mentioning:-
a) Its registration number (CNPJ),
b) The contact details of the company,
c) All the details of the proposed visit to Brazil, including the duration of the stay. The invitation letter should be written preferably in Portuguese.
Letter of recommendation from the Chambers of Commerce / Export Promotion Council/Manufacturers Associations in India.
All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name, designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory.
Photocopy of the highest qualification of the passenger / degree certificate.
Income Tax returns of last three years.
Bank statement of last six months.
A copy of a round-trip ticket or a pre-booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passengers name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number.
Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates that are required when returning to their country of origin, like, yellow fever.
Business visa holders are prohibited from engaging in any remunerative activity, provision of services, technical assistance either with or without a contract.
All Business visa holders may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days, regardless of nationality or length of time that the visa was given. The Federal Police in Brazil may extend this 90-day period, yet stays in Brazil may not exceed 180 days per year from the date of first entry under any circumstances.
Business Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they were issued or they will become void.
Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil.
Applicants must attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas (if any).
The requirements listed should not, be considered all-inclusive. The Brazilian Visa Section reserves the right to apply additional requirements when they are deemed necessary.

Applicants going for filming of documentaries / commercial / publicity to Brazil must request the Brazilian partner to apply for a special authorization from the ‘Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual’ of ANCINE (National Agency of Cinema) to be obtained directly by the Brazilian partner.
