A master-planned community in Crossfield will lift the curtain on its first show home parade today.

ReidBuilt Homes, McKee Homes and Homes by Dream will all have models on display during an event in Vista Crossing on Sept. 10. It’s part of a fall fair style event featuring family-friendly activities, live music and food trucks, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m.

Vista Crossing is by Dream Development, the same company behind the communities of EvansRidge, Castle Keep and Wentworth in Calgary and Montrose in High River.

The 160-acre (64-hectare) community, at build out, will have about 1,000 homes. It opens with a parade featuring four show homes by Homes by Dream, two by McKee and one from ReidBuilt.

“The homes have a lot of charm,” says Michael Tandara about Vista Crossing. He’s the director of marketing, land and housing at Dream Unlimited.

McKee and ReidBuilt are building move-up homes in the community from the $420,000s and estate homes from the $550,000s, while Homes by Dream has laned homes, dubbed character homes, from $339,900. In both cases, tax is included.

“It’s going to give people a range of choice,” says Tandara.

On the character homes, Tandara says, “It’s an amazing opportunity for first-time buyers, especially if you’re starting a family.” In this segment, Homes by Dream is displaying its Parker model, a 1,051-square foot bungalow, along with two-storey options, the 1,408-square-foot Milo, the 1,501-square-foot Juno and the Charlie at 1,250 square feet.

Tandara says the character homes boast grand front porches. “They’re not just for esthetics, like you sometimes find,” he says. “They’re 150 to 200 square feet. They’re very much outdoor living spaces.”

McKee’s show homes are the Sperrin II, a 1,396-square-foot bungalow, and the Lough Neagh VI, an 1,822-square-foot two-storey home. ReidBuilt’s show home is its Aydon 2 floor plan, which is 2,147 square feet.

“They’ve got some beautiful properties overlooking the wetlands and the pond in the community,” Tandara says.

ReidBuilt and McKee are building on lots ranging from 40 to 50 feet wide.

Vista Crossing will have two hectares of protected wetland, eight hectares of green space, and more than four kilometres of walking trails. Amery Park, which is the primary green space in the community’s opening phase, will feature a community garden, soccer field, ice rink and barbecue pits.

The community’s show home hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
