Online dating site uses secret invites to group events to get people together

Five per cent of all those married or in committed relationships met their significant other online, but most encounters are uncomfortable or a waste of time, says a new online dating site that is looking to change that through secret invites to exclusive events.

New online dating site Secret RSVP puts emphasis on secret invites to public events.

A husband and wife team who met through online dating more than 15 years ago, has improved upon their experience and created a new and unique social meet-up site, Secret RSVP. Secret RSVP is a new singles meet-up service that lets members secretly invite people they are interested in meeting to group events and puts a focus on talking offline.

“We know what it’s like to use online dating sites and to meet up with strangers. We understand the pressures involved and want to help alleviate that,” said Jennifer Connery, co-founder of Secret RSVP in a release. “Our new concept in online to offline dating applies seven secret ingredients that make the whole process of meeting someone new a lot easier.”

Secret RSVP’s seven secrets to finding success in the online dating world are:

1. Use secret invitations to remove awkwardness. Members can secretly invite other members out to events and quickly see what someone is like in person. And because no one knows who invite whom – the pressure is relieved. If there is mutual interest after the event, members can exchange emails through the site.

2. Give singles control over whom they meet. While other social meet-up Websites open their events to anyone who wishes to attend, members of Secret RSVP can attend an event only if they are secretly invited by another member. This ensures that meeting someone interesting isn’t left to chance and everyone is in control of whom they meet.

3. Remove emails – Talk to real people. There is no messaging or chat rooms in Secret RSVP. Members either join open events and invite their guests, or wait for a secret invitation. All interactions happen at group events, where true chemistry can be experienced.

4. Fun group events are the main focus. Secret RSVP believes that meeting in groups helps singles stay safe and fun. Events range from indoor and outdoor sports and recreation, to cooking classes and even volunteer activities. This makes the events the focal point of conversations and relieves the awkwardness of meeting new people.

5. Increase the incentives to attend. Because everyone gets to secretly invite someone they are interested in meeting, members are curious and motivated to attend. This helps ensure a healthier attendance rate for events.

6. There is equal gender ratio at events. Events organized by other social meet up groups can typically have an unbalanced gender ratio. Secret RSVP’s unique invitation mechanics increase the chances of more gender balanced groups.

7. There are no complex algorithms. People can create simple profiles online but they are only meant as a basic reference. Secret RSVP believes that meeting offline is the best way to determine if there is chemistry in person. This is why the site doesn’t use any complex algorithms to match people.

“Meeting new people is not difficult, especially if you do it the Secret RSVP way,” said Connery. “These seven secret ingredients make the whole process of meeting someone new a lot easier.”

Secret RSVP currently has members in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. As membership grows, group events and activities will be scheduled in each of these cities. There is no charge to create a profile and there are no membership fees. The only fee someone has is when they participate in events, which usually range from about $20 to $30 per person.
