We're back with yet another dose of amazing work injected by you, the Cageside commenters. Many of you have impressed us all by producing some amazing work and golden comments yet again. So it's that time of the week to recognize the excellent FanPosts, FanShots, and comments that were the "Best in the World" (of Cageside) this past week.

As always, thanks to Cagesider Ecstasy with Extra Cheese for cleverly naming our Weekly Cageside Commenters Awards "The RECs", which perfectly sums up what this feature tries to do. After all, without all of you, Cageside Seats would not be the greatest pro wrestling website on the Internet.

So, without further ado, we present to you...

From the "WWE Raw results and reactions from last night (Dec. 31, 2012): The year ends, not with a bang, but with a pile of 'mud'" thread:

What's so frustrating about the Mae Young stuff from last night is that the Christmas Eve episode proved that creative is capable of doing excellent work in the kind of comedic farce that Will Ferrell has popularized in the last decade or so. And that pro wrestling completely lends itself, too. The scenarios are staples of the form: when you highlight the absurdities inherent in those while otherwise playing it straight, and give your (for the most part) extremely talented performers the latitude to improv within that framework, you get great TV like the entire backstage scene where Booker addresses the team (“Santa’s down”, “I’ve got kids, man” and “SAAANNNTAAAAA”). And you get this: (Click here, here, here, and here) The WWE is capable of simple, entertaining TV for kids, smart if silly humor for adults and all kinds of compelling drama set around competition. That they continue to go to the lowest common denominator well of naked old women, slut shaming and poop/fart jokes is as lazy as it is disappointing. by s1rude on Jan 1, 2013 10:38 PM EST 7 recs

From the "John Cena is an awful, awful character" thread:

In fairness Cena is a huge shit eater, judging by that grin that stays plastered to his face, at least. If anybody has the number to Dirty Joe’s Septic Drop on speed-dial…

by ReverendKain on Jan 1, 2013 5:41 PM EST 3 recs

and also from the same thread...

This is the problem, Cena is suppose to be the example to kids to do better and rise above people who do you wrong. His character is a complete hypocrite in the worst way possible, he says he is trying to set an example for kids to live by while simultaneously being a god awful role model in every way. If you want Cena to be a douche bag that’s fine market him as one, if you want John Cena to be a role model to kids fine, then write his character as such. To say one and do the other is simply wrong, especially when you are purposefully marketing to the most impressionable age group possible. by Chris Hines on Jan 1, 2013 6:27 PM EST 6 recs

For Heaven's sake, leave the Gentiles out of it. There are a lot of different views about region out here at cSs. by s1rude on Jan 1, 2013 7:26 PM EST 12 recs

and...

Sheamus coming out to shake Big Show’s hand and showing good sportsmanship, that’s a good role model. ADR apologizing to Ricky and offering his best support to his best friend, that’s a good role model. If ADR did a plug for Be a Star right after that, that would have been great. It’s a lesson that our actions and words sometimes have consequences. John Cena slut shaming and then dropping shit on AJ? That’s not being a good role model and is certainly not being a good guy. Cena is the good guy because the WWE tells us he is, not because his actions dictate that he is. by StrongStyle81 on Jan 1, 2013 6:40 PM EST 11 recs

and...

Oatmeal instead of poop would have changed the whole tone. Dumping oatmeal shows Cena is a prankster. He’s playing pranks on the bad guys. I can live with that explanation. It is kind of like getting slimed on Nickelodeon back in the day. It’s all in good fun. Dumping poop is disgusting. It shows an absolute lack of respect for fellow man. Cena is maliciously trying to humiliate them. It crosses the line into cruelty.

See, there's a common misconception there. You can usually poke the bear. Bears like being poked, generally speaking. What you’re not supposed to do is pork the bear. Those complaints are lame. It was a perfect was to close the show. Underdog face knowing that they are not long for the match throws a couple of haymakers and connects. I got it! Kofi has a rematch clause, right? That’s normal. Everybody gets one unless they specifically say on TV or forget about it for long enough. We also know that Kofi has been playing fast and loose with his allegiances for some time now, given that malicious dropkick to Miz a ways back, when Miz was just trying to offer a postmatch handshake, and how buddy buddy he was with Miz in the announce booth during the gauntlet. This all sets my argument up nicely. Kofi Kingston is a wildcat from the Ashanti region of Ghana. But Kofi Kingston lives in the midcard. Why is a 6 foot wildcat living in the midcard with all those wrestlers? It doesn’t make sense! If he lives in the midcard, Kofi Kingston must get a title shot! by ReverendKain on Jan 4, 2013 2:07 PM EST

Kofi/Barrett. Their feud hinges on Barret’s belief that he can beat Kofi “9 times out of 10”. Kofi has pinned him like 3 times but only one was clean so Barrett can keep his 9 of 10 claim. I predict a 2/3 falls match to end the feud. by rancho king on Jan 4, 2013 2:58 PM EST
