2014-01-01

Happy New Year, readers.  2013 has exeunt’ed and  2014 has entered stage left.  In keeping with the spirit of reflection that comes with the season, I’m going to share with you some of my New Year’s Resolutions.

Its been a year of ups and downs for Caffeineforge.  While both David and I met with personal and professional successes throughout the year, the project that was the seed of this blog–the Kickstarter to fund our graphic novel, The Wardenclyffe Horror–was ultimately refunded to backers after a string of bad breaks (which is the best way I can think of to characterize a string of events including both grave illness AND typhoons…).  While that was a stinging failure for sure, it leads me to my first resolution:  that anyone who wants a copy of The Wardenclyffe Horror will have one in their hands by the end of the year.  David and I are resolved to get it done, so stay tuned for updates as Wardenclyffe 2.0 comes online.

In line with our efforts to get Wardenclyffe into print, I resolve to do more writing.  Much of my work involves writing and storytelling–so much so that I rarely have the mental or emotional wherewithal to do still more writing when I get home.  However, I’m committed to doing more writing this year, regardless of work and other excuses.  We’re even going to systematize and perhaps share some of it (look forward to elaboration about that whole process in a future post).

In that same spirit, both David and I are resolved to continue writing this blog for as long as people are reading it.  We’ve seen our readership go up and down as we cover crowd funding controversies, pop culture flagships, and establish regular features like Monday Miniatures.  We’re constantly learning and striving to do this better, and we’re looking forward to a 2014 full of great blogging.  We hope you’ll continue to join us a few times a week, to read and to share your opinions in the comments (and we’re always interested in hosting guest bloggers).  Thank you to everyone who took the time to make Caffeineforge part of their week in 2013.

Have a Happy New Year.
