Hurricane Norbert Side Swipes Cabo Closing Port!!!

Port is open again!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Well Hurricane Norbert did close our port here in Cabo for about 4 days so we don’t have fish information for those days, The storm more or less side swiped us here in Cabo with some pretty strong winds to about 55 to 60 miles an hour and possible gusts to 65 miles an hour. The storm did knock out the lights on a couple different occasions but they were back on after 2 to 3 hours. Along with the rain did come some heavy rain at times flooding some streets and low lying areas. We actually lucked out really as we didn’t get the brunt of the storm as that was out to sea 100 miles. Well its early September and we don’t need any more of that tropical weather. I am sitting here writing the report and its sunny and mostly clear so I thought I would throw on a little country music and I am taken back to a couple little Honkey Tonks I stumbled into in Bakersfield. I wonder if I am welcome there anymore?

WATER:  It looks as if the water temperatures are pretty much how they were the week before. I thought this storm would push in some really warm water but it looks like last week according to Tempbreak. So pretty much the same with cooler waters on the Pacific side and when I say cooler I mean cool from 81 to warmer to 86 or 86 so not a major difference from Sea of Cortez and Pacific but a few degrees. Go to Tempbreak.com to check out map. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb

TUNA: There were some big Tunas caught before the storm with one tipping the scales at 270 lbs according to Griceldas Smokehouse. I don’t know when Mexico is going to wake up and start protecting the sport fishing and all the tourist dollars that come into the area because of fishing. It seems no one is thinking of the long term affects this will have on the tourist and sport fishing industry. Not only that the sport fishing and tourist industry employee many, many families here in Los Cabos

BILLFISH: Fishing was real good up till the storm arrived with lots of Striped Marlin and Sailfish being caught. There were also reports of Blue Marlin caught first part of. . . . Read the complete JC’s Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report at LosCabosGuide.com
