New Jersey Bariatric Center is proud to announce that award-winning nutritionist Kimberly Manzo, MS, RD, has joined the weight loss team as Clinical Coordinator of Surgical and Medical Weight Loss, leading our team of nutritionists in the pre- and post-operative support of our LAP-BAND, Gastric Bypass and Gastric Sleeve patients.
As clinical coordinator, Manzo will offer dietary and lifestyle counseling to patients, tailoring individual nutrition care plans that support metabolic and surgical weight loss. Manzo brings many years of experience to the weight loss team, having counseled patients in private practice in New Jersey, New York and Hawaii.
She has distinguished herself as a leader in the profession, serving as a board member for the Hawaiian Dietetic Association as State Policy Representative. She was the recipient of the Hawaiian Dietetic Association 2010 Young Dietitian of the Year award.
We are all very excited that Kim is joining our weight loss team, said Ajay Goyal, MD, FACS, founder and surgical director of New Jersey Bariatric Center. Not only does she have a vast knowledge of methods to combat obesity through dietary tactics but she also has experience counseling patients whove had Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND and Gastric Sleeve procedures so she understands the particular needs of the bariatric surgery patient.
Manzo earned a Master of Science in Nutrition from New York University and a bachelors degree in Psychology from Villanova University. She was one of only two dietitians selected to represent the state of Hawaii at the American Dietetic Association Advocacy Workshop in Washington, DC, and the ADA Leadership Institute, both in 2010.
I am looking forward to helping New Jersey Bariatric Centers patients continue to take charge of their lives through healthy dietary choice, Manzo said. I believe that through gradual behavior modifications and lifestyle changes most people and specifically weight loss surgery patients can not only lose weight but keep it off for good.
