What is the first thing kids say when they come in the door after school?
“Mom! I’m Hungry!”
So I’ve got a fun after school snack mix recipe that is sure to please everyone in the home! It is really easy to toss together.
The kids love it. And you can even pack it up in baggies to send to school as a treat in the lunch box!
And it is made with the kids’ favorite crispy, cheesy Goldfish® crackers!
It doesn’t matter if it is Cheddar, Colors, Flavor Blasted® Xtra Cheddar, Graham, Baked with Whole Grain Honey or Pretzel. My kids love Goldfish crackers.
Easy Snack Mix for After School.
I love this chocolate drizzled snack mix because if I want to surprise my kids when they come home with a fun snack, I can put it together in just a few short minutes without a lot of effort.
But this snack mix is also fantastic because it is simple enough that the kids can help make it for a fun Saturday Kids in the Kitchen afternoon!
Simply toss the chocolate drizzle snack mix into fun snack cartons and let them munch while they do their homework.
Because brains need food to get that homework done!
Or if it is the weekend, curl up and watch a movie together while you each dig in!
Our Chocolate Drizzle Snack mix is very similar to the popular White Trash mix! But since I shamefully dislike white chocolate, I use regular chocolate.
I also went with a slightly less candy filled snack mix to give more sustenance to the snack mix.
You know, cause I don’t want all the Mommy Shamers pounding down our door. We have to feel somewhat proud of our mommy moments. Because apparently there are people out there who think you are bad parents if you give your kids treats now and then.
But truthfully I just used what I happen to have on hand that I know my kids love to snack on!
It turns out that it’s also a smarter snack choice for kids than a traditional white trash mix. But still full of flavor that kids think they are getting a treat.
So I gathered up our favorite Goldfish® crackers in Cheddar and Baked with Whole Grain Graham flavors, air-popped popcorn, dehydrated fruit pieces, and your choice of nuts.
I used dehydrated cherries, blueberries, and cranberries. I also used honey roasted almonds because those are my favorite.
Toss it all in and spread onto a cookie sheet.
Give it a great drizzle of chocolate on top!
Sprinkle with your choice of bakers sprinkles or sea salt for a salted chocolate effect.
Let it cool.
Then break it and serve!
You can store any leftovers in an airtight container for about a week.

To make it a more complete after school snack, I like to add fresh produce into the mix.
It just gives it a little more nutritional value to ensure the kids are getting the brain fuel they need, while still being a fun after school snack.
So make these fun Apple Peanut Butter Sandwiches (you can do the same thing with bananas)!
They are so simple! Simply slice the apples as you would bread.
Gently cut out the core in the center.
Spread 2 slices with natural peanut butter.
Then put together like a sandwich!
Now you have a complete afterschool snack that the kids will love, and Mom can feel pretty proud of!
I grab all my supplies at Walmart during the usual shopping trip to make it extra simple. I always pick up the bulk Goldfish crackers, because we use those for everything from homework aides, to games, to simple snacks! Plus there is a rollback of $5.98!
You can also Save $1.00 on any ONE (1) Bolthouse Farms® 10 oz. Baby Carrots or Bolthouse Farms(® 11 oz. juice when you buy any ONE (1) Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers 30 oz. or larger.
