A love of freshly cooked pizza and a flair for tasty toppings has been a winner for one lucky La Porchetta restaurant customer.

Answering La Porchetta’s call for New Zealand’s ultimate summer pizza recipe, Bronwyn McGee combined her favourite toppings — seasoned lamb, roast beetroot, crumbly feta and stringy mozzarella — on a traditional tomato base.

Bronwyn’s ‘Moroccan Lamb Pizza’ beat more than 1,000 other entrants from across New Zealand and scored her a summer holiday trip for two to Melbourne, as well as a place on the La Porchetta pizza menu at her local restaurant in Hobson Street, Auckland, and at La Porchetta in Henderson.

When asked about her inspiration for the winning pizza, she said she just combined her favourite foods on a pizza which, coincidentally, is her favourite food! Bronwyn shared the prize with her mother, who helped create the delicious recipe. Mum and daughter spent the weekend in Melbourne shopping, enjoying the local restaurants, and visiting the museums and galleries.

Bronwyn is a regular customer at La Porchetta Hobson Street, which is run by franchisee partners Ali Feyzabad and Ojan Khoeyare.
