Leading subcontract laser and metal fabrication firm, SJC Hutchinson Engineering, continues to set new standards in engineering with the receipt of two industry accreditations in recognition of their continual commitment to quality, precision and development.

The company, which recently launched a specialist division, Hutchinson AeroTech with the aim of becoming a leader in the machining and supply of stainless steel and titanium processing for the aerospace sector, has achieved the prestigious Nadcap accreditation for Nonconventional Machining and reflects their commitment to continual improvement in aerospace quality.

The firm was also recognised for the high standard of motivation, support and development it provides to its employees at their Antrim and Kilrea sites and has achieved a Bronze Investors in People award.

Commenting on the awards, Mark Hutchinson, Managing Director, Hutchinson Engineering said, “Both of these awards reflect the core values that the company operate by. Our focus has always been on delivering quality, precision products and with Nadcap accreditation we can clearly demonstrate to companies in this highly specialised sector that we are able to meet their stringent demands.

“As a family-owned firm we have always believed in treating our employees like members of the extended family, investing in them to ensure that they are trained to the highest standards and that they can develop a long term career within the company. Achieveing Bronze Investors in People status is recognition of the hard work that our employees have put into the company and provides us with a great benchmark for us to build on as we work with an increasingly diverse customer base.”

Hutchinson AeroTech received Nadcap accreditation for demonstrating their ongoing commitment to quality by satisfying customer requirements and industry specifications.

“Achieving Nadcap accreditation is not easy: it is one of the ways in which the aerospace industry identifies those who excel at manufacturing quality product through superior special processes. Companies such as Hutchinson AeroTech work hard to obtain this status and they should be justifiably proud of it,” said Joe Pinto, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Performance Review Institute (PRI).

“PRI is proud to support continual improvement in the aerospace industry by helping companies such as Hutchinson AeroTech be successful and we look forward to continuing to assist the industry moving forward.”

The Investors in People scheme rewards and recognises businesses that show continued focus on the development of their team through better business practices, training programmes and a ‘people first’ approach.

As the only quality standard in the UK, The Investors in People accreditation framework assesses companies against a set of criteria that measure working culture, employee engagement and leadership.

SJC Hutchinson Engineering was established in 1971 and the leading supplier of quality laser cutting and fabrication services has gone from strength to strength through a series of strategic diversifications which now sees it working with customers in the agriculture, construction, energy, medical and transport sectors.

The group includes specialist aerospace division Hutchinson AeroTech, H360 Ltd an innovative design engineering provider and Hutchinson Engineering one of the UK and Ireland’s leading subcontract laser and metal fabrication firms.

With over 80 employees, the company delivers consultation and design as well as prototyping and full production. The company has invested in cutting-edge technology and a highly trained and motivated team to ensure that each customer receives the highest standards of quality and service.
