Dana Air, a Lagos-based airline based flying domestic services, is looking to drive customer acquisition and efficient service delivery with the release of new mobile application.

The company, weekend launched its mobile, social media sales and distribution solution aimed at further improving the all-round passenger travel experience in areas relating to searching and booking flights as well as checking-in. The mobile app dubbed ‘FlyDana App’, according to the firm, is based around three core processes which are ‘Search, Book and Pay’. 

Smartphones have become indispensible in the daily lives of many Nigerians, according to industry watchers, and Dana Air is bent on taking advantage of this trend. Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, is currently the largest mobile market in Africa with approximately 120 million mobile subscriptions.

Telephony density has reached 85 percent and rising of which 30 percent are smartphone users. The above data further reinforces Dana Airlines’ decision to implement its FlyDana Mobile solution as part of its continued strategy for growth, making air travel accessible and affordable within Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

The app dubbed “FlyDana Mobile”, is an enhanced and innovative distribution channel that will allow passengers and customers to view flight information and availability in real-time whilst giving them the option to book and pay for flights from the comfort of their homes or on the move.

The app is expected to be available on andriod, Blackberry, Windows, iOS app stores in coming weeks. With the introduction of the mobile App, Dana Air has aligned its vision with technology in providing innovative and pioneering solutions specifically centered on improving airline passenger experience. 

The app is powered by FlyNow Mobile and developed by Fountedge Technologies; a United Kingdom (UK) based aviation mobile solution provider.

Obi Mbanuzuo, head of commercial, while speaking with technology journalists at the launch of the mobile application, reiterated Dana Air’s commitment to constantly review, align and introduce products that positively impacts on overall customer experience, noting that the FlyDana Mobile platform is a one-stop shop that will allow more customers easy access to tickets, great value fares either for business or leisure trips.

Mbanuzuo further added that the mobile platform is secure as the software application has enhanced, multiple layered security encryption that guarantees secured transactions. 

“Mobile solutions are now a trend in the aviation industry and FlyDana Mobile App will further transform the way people purchase Dana Air tickets as the mobile App will allow our guests to experience a spectacular change in overall customer travel experience through this secure and effective distribution channel,” said Mbanuzuo.

He also emphasised that the FlyDana Mobile App is a welcome development that will promote sales and encourage the purchase of tickets on-the-go as well as eliminate the hazards associated with the delays in commuting to ticket sales points as it affords our guests the convenience of searching for and purchasing Dana tickets whenever and wherever by just a click.

Also speaking on the launch of the mobile App, Stephen Williams, the CEO of Fountedge Technologies, said that “Travel is mobile by nature” and going mobile is a key consideration to any airline’s strategy for growth.
