Companies agree to transition Biblica’s low-cost outreach Bible business to Zondervan

Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) October 01, 2014

Citing a desire to focus more exclusively on its core ministry efforts, today Biblica announced an expanded partnership with HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP). Under the new agreement, HCCP will assume the direct and trade sales responsibilities of Biblica’s low-cost outreach Bibles, through the Zondervan Bible publishing program. Zondervan has been the longtime North American commercial publishing partner for Biblica in marketing and development of NIV translation Bible products.

This restructuring will enable Biblica to refocus its efforts on translating and publishing Bibles in the world’s 100 most widely spoken languages and helping people to experience and understand Scripture more deeply. The two companies will immediately enter into a transitional period that is expected to be finalized by the end of the calendar year. Biblica and HCCP hope to provide a seamless integration for its customers.

“We are thrilled that HarperCollins Christian Publishing has agreed to take on our direct and trade sales business exclusively in the U.S. and Canada,” said Scott Bolinder, executive vice president of Biblica. “Our partnership with Zondervan spans over four decades, during which time our two organizations have worked extremely well together. While any change of this magnitude is complex, it makes perfect sense for us to move this area of our ministry to HCCP. They’ll be able to give customers the best possible service, and Biblica will be able to put all of its energies into Bible translation and publishing, as well as our renewed efforts to help people read the Bible well through ministry programs like Community Bible Experience.”

Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO of HCCP added, “Zondervan’s forty-year relationship with Biblica has dramatically impacted our world. Through this long, trusted relationship, the two companies have built on one another’s strengths, leveraging the best resources in the industry. Growing our Bibles and biblical resources continues to be a core focus for our business and it is where our mission—to inspire the world by meeting the needs of people with content that promotes biblical principles and honors Jesus Christ—is grounded. We are committed to serving Biblica’s current customers and ensuring a smooth transition.”

Under the agreement, HCCP will specifically absorb the direct and trade sales of the NIV, NIrV and NVI low-cost outreach Bible lines. Additional communications for current customers of Biblica and HCCP are forthcoming, providing further clarity on integration details, including a special offer to use on their next order.
