Halloween, also having various names like Allhalloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve, which is an yearly celebration of in so many countries on 31st October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. The best thing about halloween is the costumes worn around all over the different countries. Halloween costumes have tended to be worn mainly by young people, but since the mid-20th century they have been increasingly worn by adults also. These costumes are traditionally based on scaring people around and having fun. Halloween costumes in the contemporary Western world sometimes depict people and things from present times and are sometimes read in terms of their political and cultural significance.

History of Halloween Costumes

As seen in Wikipedia, the history of Halloween costumes  has been clearly described. The practice of wearing costumes on Halloween may have originated in the Celtic festival of Samhain, which has ancient, pre-Christian origins and was celebrated on 31 October–1 November in various Celtic nations. From at least the 16th century, the festival included mumming and guising, which involved people going house-to-house in costume (or in disguise), usually reciting verses or songs in exchange for food. The custom of guising at Halloween in North America is first recorded in 1911, where a newspaper in Kingston, Ontario reported children going “guising” around the neighborhood.

Early Halloween costumes emphasized the and gothic nature of Halloween, and were aimed primarily at children. Costumes were also made at home, or using items (such as make-up) which could be purchased and utilized to create a costume. But in the 1930s, A.S. Fishbach, Ben Cooper, Inc., and other firms began mass-producing Halloween costumes for sale in stores as trick-or-treating became popular in North America. Halloween costumes are often designed to imitate supernatural and scary beings. Costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, skeletons, witches, goblins, trolls, devils, etc. or in more recent years such science fiction-inspired characters as aliens and superheroes.

Ghost Halloween Costume:Here’s another super easy classic. This one’s so cliche and so easy that you actually don’t actually even see it too often. Just cut a few eye holes in a plain white sheet and you have a ghost costume ready to go -though I doubt you’ll ever look as good in the costume.

Halloween Creative Homemade Costumes

Halloween Day 2014 Costumes:

Halloween costumes are costumes worn on or around Halloween, a festival which falls on October 31. Wearing costumes and mumming has long been associated with festivals at other times of the year, such as on Christmas. Halloween costumes are traditionally based on frightening supernatural or folkloric beings. However, by the 1930s costumes based on characters in mass media such as film, literature, and radio were popular.

Halloween day Celebrations:

The celebration of Halloween has dual origins. The first is in a pre-Christian Celtic feast associated with the Celtic New Year. The second is in the Christian celebration of All Saints Day (Nov. 1st) and All Souls Day (Nov. 2). In the British Isles November 1st is called All Hallows, thus the evening before is All Hallows Eve. In medieval Christian celebrations of All Hallows’ Eve, individuals paraded through the streets with statues and replicas of the martyred saints; some of the less wealthy churches could not afford these things and so they dressed like saints instead

History of Halloween costumes:

The practice of wearing costumes on Halloween may have originated in the Celtic festival of Samhain, which has ancient, pre-Christian origins and was celebrated on 31 October–1 November in various Celtic nations. It was seen as a liminal time, when the spirits or fairies, and the souls of the dead, could more easily come into our world. It has also been suggested that the wearing of Halloween costumes developed from Christian customs created in Western Europe around the 15th century. “Soaling”, the custom of baking and sharing soul cakes for all christened souls, has been suggested as the origin of trick-or-treating.

Homemade Halloween Costumes:

Halloween is filled with scary things — ghosts, ghouls, and pricey costumes are just a few! If you’re the savvy type who prefers treats to tricks, you’ll opt for an inexpensive getup this Fall. Great value Halloween costumes and accessories for all the family in one place! Whether you’re going trick or treating or to a Halloween party, find the perfect costume in our range of popular themes, including zombies, witches, vampires, ghosts and skeletons. Or browse our huge selection for something deadly different this Halloween.

Creative Halloween Costumes:

Creative Halloween costumes began 1000s of a long time ago if the ancient Celtic people today wore disguises to hide by themselves over the feast of Samhain, when those that had been dead were being permitted to roam the earth. On tonight on the useless, the Celtics believed, the spirits would roam about and wreak havoc on unsuspecting, or suspecting and fearful, humans.

Trick-or-treating and guising:

“Soaling”, the custom of baking and sharing soul cakes for all christened souls, has been suggested as the origin of trick-or-treating, and “used to consist of parties of children, dressed up in fantastic costume, who went round to the farm houses and cottages, signing a song, and begging for cakes (spoken of as “Soal-cakes”), apples, money, or anything that the goodwives would give them.

Homemade Halloween Decorations

Halloween is very popular in Ireland (where it originated) and is known in Irish as Oíche Shamhna , literally “Samhain Night.” Pre-Christian Celts had an autumn festival, Samhain, “End of Summer,” a pastoral and agricultural “fire festival” or feast, when the dead revisited the mortal world and large communal bonfires would hence be lit to ward off evil spirits. It’s already that time of year! You know, when we decorate our homes with ugly, terrifying Hallowee decorations. It  is a great time for decorating. Many people spend days, not to mention a small fortune, making their homes look scary and fun. The truth is that you don’t really have to spend a fortune on Halloween decor.

Outdoor Halloween Decorations:

Crepe Paper Railings:

For Crepe Paper Railings Use black, orange (or) a combination of both. Streamers in a Halloween theme look festive, too. Attach them to different surfaces  to get a perfect shape and then secure them with clear tape so that it can’t change it’s shape.

Horrifying Halloween Wreath:

A wreath on the door is usually a welcoming sight, but one that has numerous pairs of staring eyes sends a very different message.

Things need to have for preparing Horrifying Halloween Wreath are given below:

• Black floral spray paint  • 24 silk flowers  • Assorted artificial foliage  • 14″ straw wreath form  • 8 yards black grosgrain ribbon, No. 9 width (about 1″)  • Hot-glue gun  • 8 pairs of googly eyes, various sizes

1. Spray-paint flowers and foliage. It shoud be dry.

2. Wrap wreath form in ribbon for this Use a dab of glue to secure ends.

3. Glue flowers and foliage to form, starting with larger blooms.

4. Arrange pairs of eyes on finished wreath; glue in place.

3D Pumpkin Garland:

Materials required for 3D Pumpkin Garland:

Pencil

compass

1 Sheet of Printer Paper

Scissors

Hole Puncher

Orange Construction Paper

Tape

Green Pipe Cleaners

String or Twine

Ffirst make a template from which I could trace the shape onto my orange paper later. On your printer paper, draw a dot in the center. Using your compass, put the needle on the dot you have drawn and create a large circle that fits on the paper. With your compass on the 1/2 inch setting, draw a smaller circle about the dot. Next, you will be drawing 4 oval-like shapes around the smaller circle. Put your needle somewhere in the large circle, and draw a line from the small circle to the edge of the large circle. Place the needle on the intersection of the line and the edge of the large circle and make another curved line from the edge of the small circle to that of the large circle. Basically repeat these steps to form 4 ovals about the small circle.

At the tip of each oval, draw a small rectangle. Make each rectangle large enough to have a hole punched in the middle.Cut out your flower template carefully. Ignore the large circle this was just a basis for forming the ovals. Make sure your template works by picking up the edges of the ovals and holding them together to make a geometric shape.

Silhouette Lamp Shade:

You’ve already got the lamp, so why not add a few silhouettes to spruce up your Halloween decoration ?  It really doesn’t get much easier or cheaper than this! And, you probably already have the supplies on hand.

Halloween Silhouette Lamp Shape cut the paper in to bat man shape and past it inside the lamp. so that you will get the Silhouette Lamp Shades.

Candy Centerpiece:

Candy corn and candy pumpkins are all the rage and you can use them to dress up your table. Just add them to a tall glass jar or vase, and add a “tree”. Not a real tree mind you, but take a small branch and spray paint it black for effect. You can use an empty toilet paper roll to hold the tree in place and even hang small ghosts and other scary creatures from the branches.
