As part of fan appreciation day festivities, the Longhorns will have their current team face off against the former players in an alumni game.

This weekend, the Texas Longhorns baseball team will host a number of their former players at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in an alumni game on Saturday afternoon. The game will take place on the school’s Fan Appreciation Day and will be the final event of the day, starting at 9:30 a.m. with first pitch coming at 2:03 p.m.

Before the game, Longhorn fans will have the opportunity to attend an autograph session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., along with playing catch with the players in the outfield from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The current Texas team will take batting practice at 12:05 p.m., followed by the alumni taking batting practice at 12:50 p.m.

This nine-inning competition will feature the alumni playing in three innings, followed by the current team facing off against each other in an intrasquad matchup in what head coach David Pierce coined to be a “dress rehearsal.” The game — which will be televised on the Longhorn Network — will be the team’s final tuneup prior to their season opener against Rice on February 17.

The following players have been confirmed to be in attendance this weekend: Cameron Rupp (Philadelphia Phillies), Tres Barrera (Washington Nationals), C.J Hinojosa (San Francisco Giants), Brooks Marlow (Houston Astros), Erich Weiss (Pittsburgh Pirates), Drew Stubbs, Ben Johnson (Kansas City Royals), Mark Payton (New York Yankees), Ty Culbreth (Colorado Rockies), Huston Street (Los Angeles Angels), John Curtiss (Minnesota Twins), Brandon Workman (Boston Red Sox), Kirby Bellow (Arizona Diamondbacks), Taylor Jungmann (Milwaukee Brewers) and Corey Knebel (Milwaukee Brewers).

“At the end of it, we get to socialize with those (alumni), have a dinner with them,” Pierce said to reporters, including Danny Davis of the American-Statesman. “Hopefully our players understand that history that they’ve created here.”
