Living in Charleston, Caitlin and Brad knew they wanted to get married in Charleston and found their dream-venue in Boone Hall Plantation. Many of their family and friends had to travel to Charleston, but knew it would be worth the trip, and was it ever!
Caitlin and Brad were married on the steps of the Boone Hall Plantation home in a beautiful ceremony set to the sounds of a great string-trio. Guests and family members then made their way to the back of the house where they were greeted with some amazing hors d’oeuvres and drinks by Cru Catering. After some cocktails and food, everyone went to the Cotton Dock which was exquisitely decorated, complete with lounges and a fire pit for s’mores! I began playing a mix of oldies, classic rock, alternative rock and classic country. I then introduced the wedding party and the newlyweds to “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & The Waves. Caitlin then danced with her father, followed by Brad and his mother’s dance. Guests then went inside where they were treated to some incredible fare.
After some great toasts and speeches by the Father of the Bride, Best Man, and Maid of Honor, Caitlin and Brad cut their cake. We then officially opened the dance floor with “I Want You Back” by Jackson 5.
When I spoke with Caitlin about the music for her wedding, she told me she “has terrible taste in music” in that she loves horrible pop/Top 40 music, and Kesha in particular. Regardless of what she thought of her music taste, I was going to be sure our bride was dancing! I played a mix of oldies and classic reception songs throughout the evening, eventually mixing into a steady stream of pop and current Top 40, and, of course, Kesha! We ended the night with the beautiful “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton and sent them off with sparklers to their classic car to “Firework” by Katy Perry.
This wedding was so beautiful and so much fun! We were all blessed to be a part of this special day, and I had a blast playing all of Caitlin’s “terrible Top 40”!
Thank you again Caitlin and Brad! It was an honor to be your DJ, and congratulations again to the new Mr. & Mrs. Mogen!
