We first encountered Thomas Daw in a thread on Bob "I got 57 fake rank mill certs" Yoder.
Less I regress I wanted to post up a review of Thomas Daws "book", and I use this term loosley. What this "book" actually is is a hodge podge of literary silliness.
Let us examine the book and it's chapters and their content if we may.
P a g e | 1THROUGH THE EYES OF THEDRAGON: GRAND MASTER THOMASDAW.MARTIAL ARTS AND THE MFMASOCIETY.
P a g e | 2Introduction.Hello and thank you for buying this book. I amGrand Master Thomas Daw, President of theMFMA Society. In this book I am going to touch on severaltopics in martial arts. I must start by statingthat I am not searching for acceptance orwriting what I think would sell millions ofcopies. Many great martial artists understandthat if we were in martial arts for the money,we would have given up long ago.I am not intending to offend anyone with thisbook, but rather offer my perspective onmartial arts, and topics associated with it. Iwould like to thank all MFMA members for

P a g e | 6Grand Master Thomas Daw: My martial artshistory.
This section is all in capital letters so everyonecan see it clearly.
It is ALL TRUE. I admit Inever had many friends or much social life, but I did NOT feel sorry for myself and go allintroverted. Instead, I made martial artshistory.
ABOUT ME.
I LIVE IN CORNWALL IN THE UK AND AT THETIME OF WRITING THIS I AM 33 YEARS OLD. IHAVE 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN MANYDIFFERENT MARTIAL ARTS STYLES, STARTINGWITH TAEKWONDO. I SPECIALISE IN RARESTYLES THAT ARE NOT EVEN HEARD OF IN MYAREA, IF ANYWHERE.MARTIAL ARTS HASALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY MAIN HOBBIES.UNLIKE TEAM SPORTS, WITH MARTIAL ARTSYOU GET WHAT YOU PUT IN. PERSONALLY, I
P a g e | 7
BELIEVE THAT NOWADAYS ALL MARTIAL ARTSARE PRIMARILY ALL ABOUT SELF DEFENSE.MOST OF THE STYLES WE KNOW OF TODAYWERE DESIGNED TO KILL AND SERIOUSLYINJURE PEOPLE, NOT FOR SPORT ORCOMPETITION.VERY YOUNG FOR GRAND MASTER.I ADMIT I AM YOUNG FOR GRAND MASTER,BUT I HAVE WORKED INCREDIBLY HARD ANDSO HAVE REAPED THE REWARDS.UNFORTUNATELY MOST OF MY FRIENDSTURNED OUT TO BE NO GOOD, AND I WASALONE FOR MANY, MANY HOURS. YET I DIDNOT GO INTROVERTED AND FEEL SORRY FORMYSELF. INSTEAD I PUT YEARS OF EFFORTINTO MARTIAL ARTS AND WAS ALWAYS BUSY,AND NEVER BORED. I HAVE DEFINITELYEARNED MY RANKS IF ANYONE ALIVE EVERHAS. SOME STYLES I MADE MORE DIFFICULTBY ADDING MOVES.THINGS WERE MODIFIED,
P a g e | 8TRIED AND TESTED. IT WAS HARD WORK, BUTFUN AS WELL. IN MY OPINION, GRANDMASTER IS JUST TWO WORDS. I WILL ALWAYSBE A STUDENT, LEARNING ANDAPPRECIATING OTHER STYLES. I DO BELIEVETHAT MANY ARE PREOCCUPIED WITH RANKRATHER THAN THE FUN OF SIMPLY PUTTINGON THE CLOTHES AND TRAINING.TO SHOW JUST HOW HARD I HAVE WORKEDIN MARTIAL ARTS, I HAVE COMPILED A LISTOF SOME OF MY GRADES. P a g e | 19Why Do People Fight?
There are many reasons why people fighteach other on planet Earth. I will elaborate onwhy people fight, and offer examples toillustrate my points.Survival.As in the animal kingdom, only the strongsurvive. For many people, fighting is a way oflife. Millions in the armed forces fight for ajob and to put food on the table.Money.Many people fight in Boxing and combatsports as full time professionals. Others fighton the streets in gangs or participate in illegalfights for quick cash.Fun.Unfortunately, there will always be those whoonly understand the language of violence.
P a g e | 20
Some sick individuals take pleasure ininflicting pain on others purely because theycan do so. Luckily, many people like this aresoon locked up, but not all of them.To Belong. Some people live in such violent surroundingsthat joining a gang is the only protection theycan get. Naturally, gangs are rivals andfrequently kill their own as well as the rivalstoo. For Their Beliefs. Many people are so brainwashed by theirreligion that they will fight anyone whoopposes it. Unfortunately, the truth is thatevery religion on Earth has caused war andbloodshed. Read the Bible and becomeChristian or we will kill you. It has happenedwith all religions.
P a g e | 21
Personally, I only fight when I have to. I amfully aware that I could defeat most peoplewith one hand behind my back. Yet havingskill does not mean you should lower yourselfto the mind-set of the common street punk.As a martial artist, living to fight is not living. Many people do incorrectly assume thatbecause you like martial arts, you alwayswant to fight. It is nonsense. You can tell a real expert from a pretendereasily. A pretender wants to be better thanothers in martial arts, or indeed any subject. Ihave a black belt therefore I am better thanyou. This mentality gets you nowhere. An expert martial artist will only fight whenthey have to ,and when they do, watch out.An expert will not discriminate or be bought.Experts already have the knowledge, and sohave nothing to prove to anyone. Pretendersstruggle with themselves, and are only really
P a g e | 22
doing martial arts to look down their nose atothers, or to compete. Fighting to compete isa dead end, as in all competition, you willnever always win. People who just do martialarts for sport are not martial artists at all.Martial arts are in fact all about selfimprovementand personal development, notendless tournaments and medal chasing. Allthe best schools are non-competitive. Howgood you will become is up to you, not only inmartial arts, but in anything in life.
P a g e | 23
What Is The Best Style Of Martial Arts?
As far as martial artists go I consider myself tobe very experienced considering only being33 at this time of writing. I have done stylesthat focus on fighting, arts that revolvearound kata, weapons styles, Tai chi andmore. Without waffling on and straying fromthe subject, there is not one single best styleof martial arts on the planet. Some individuals dedicate their lives to onestyle and die happy. There are those that gothrough life and try everything and learnnothing. Martial arts are unique because youget out what you put into them. If your heartis not really in it, you will never excel in anymartial art, as in any subject on Earth. All the competitive types are missing thepoint with martial arts training. Several worldchampion fighters have been knocked
P a g e | 24
senseless on the street, because they do notknow how to fight without rules andregulations. The same is true for many stylesand MMA as well. There are no cages, rounds, referees or rules on the street. All martial arts are used for self-defence onlynowadays, yet they were designed to kill orseverely injure any opponent. Not all stylesare based on fighting, as with Tai Chi. Thereare many fighting applications in any Tai Chiform, but as with most styles, only a goodteacher will take students through every stepand what it can be used for.Any style of martial art is only as good as itsteachers and students. Martial arts areeternal, they are learned, studied, forgottenand rediscovered. Take two serious martialarts experts, one trains twice a week for anhour and one trains four times a week for anhour. You might expect me to say that the
P a g e | 25
one who trains the most wins. It is not alwaysthe artist who trains the most who wins, butthe ones who completely understand whythey do every single movement normallywins.Of course, many people were black belt tenyears ago and gave up, but in their mind theyare still black belt; in reality far from it. Youhave to train very hard and completelyunderstand what you are doing to succeed. Some believe that the highest grade alwayswins, yet not even this is true. A brown beltcould defeat a Grand Master if said GrandMaster does not train at all anymore. It is notenough to know more moves than anyoneelse, or to know a bit and train twenty hours aweek. People go on about muscle memory, weight, age and other factors in determininghow good someone is; all meaningless to thetrue artist. Millions of people think they are
P a g e | 26
expert martial artists because they can do lotsof push ups and know a few kata; nonsense. Ifyou want to do cardio, go to the gym. I alsohave a huge problem with people who lettheir students figure out how to fight forthemselves. If you have a class you need toteach them how to fight, or you are not amartial arts expert. If you don’t practicesparring at least once every week of your life, even shadow boxing, you are not a martialartist. Wake up. Crap teachers have crapstudents. Unfortunately, many crap schoolshave capitalised on the fact that theirstudents know no better. You have to do a style that you want to doand try your absolute best. The best styledoes not exist, and this is true. Even the bestfighters alive can get stabbed in the back oneday, just out minding their own business. Weare only as good as the effort we put into our P a g e | 27martial arts training. Only you can makeyourself a great martial artist, regardless ofthe style studied.

Fighting Tips.
This book is aimed at people interested inmartial arts, yet even an unskilled person canlearn from my tips in this section. As a GrandMaster, I have had a few scuffles but alwayscame out relatively unscathed. I hope thesetips help. Enough waffle, now onto the tips.1. Practice, practice, practice. Withoutregular training your skills will soon becomerusty and not the perfection you remember.Even when training alone, set a timer andimagine fighting opponents for a coupleminutes. Without sparring practice at leastonce a week, you are fooling nobody.2. Keep your guard up. Most important, protect yourself at all costs. Without aconfident guard you will get whoopedquickly.3. Step to the sides. Most fighters only moveforwards and backwards. If your enemy
P a g e | 29
rushes in, side step and counter, and that isit. Choose the right targets and the fight canbe over almost as quickly as it began.4. Only fight if you have to. Let’s face it,everywhere there are people who love agood scrap but are not used to beingspoken to properly. If you can talk your wayout of a fight then do it. Better to apologiseand walk away, even if you are not in thewrong. Playing ***** can get you out ofmuch trouble, but also, letting them thinkthey have won can be devastating if youattack straight after.5. Walk tall and like you own the place. Nomatter where you are, if people think theydon’t see you as a target they won’t aim foryou.6. Ignore the hot air. Lots of mouthy menlove to blab on about crap and try tointimidate before they fight. If anyone gets
P a g e | 30
too close and starts flapping their mouth, shut it for them. If you detect any negativetones, react with extreme force before theyfinish their sentence. This will serve as awarning that their friends can expect thesame.7. Only fight one person at a time. If youhave to fight multiple opponents, keep thatguard up and move around. Trying to fighteveryone at once will get you knocked out.8. Hurt- don’t tickle. If a situation has gotthat far, make sure it hurts and bad.Throwing a few punches and running offcan get a whole group chasing you. Breakingan arm, a knee or a nose is harsh, but sendsa clear message to all concerned. Thesebreaks all hurt tremendously, but do not killanyone.9. Avoid the ground. The last place you wantto be is on the floor. Knock your opponent
P a g e | 31
down or out, stamp anywhere except thehead and run off. Unless you are in a cagefight, most fights do not go to the ground.Don’t believe the bullshit.10. Don’t hang around after a fight. Ifanything, leg it off somewhere safe and staythere. You might want to call the Police tolet them know what happened and to stopany reprisals before they start. If you hangaround after knocking somebody about, they could get up and do worse to you, orthey could have mates on the way.11. Know the level of danger. For example, some kid calls me a fat wanker and I crackhis skull- I am in the wrong and I go toPrison. Someone saying something does notdeserve any attention. As soon as someonegets in your space or pushes you- the fight ison. Again, be vicious as hell but not amurderer, and the law will be on your side.
P a g e | 32
12. Use moves you can do well. It is no goodtrying a scorpion kick if you never did onebefore. Jumping and flashy moves will work, but only if you have done them a milliontimes before, AND if your opponent ispractically dead on his feet to begin with. How you fight is up to you, but trying to bebetter than you are can have disastrousconsequences.13. Don’t fight fair- ever. Use a bat, a chair, anything you can to stop your opponent, but not kill them. However, if you know forsure it is life and death, kill kill kill.Fortunately most of us will never be in asituation of life and death.14. Fight fast. It is no good doing a few movesand bouncing up and down like Bruce Leethisis not real life. You want to suffocateyour opponent with so many blows they canbarely return with a single blow. Train with
P a g e | 33
two minute rounds. In real life, If you cannotbeat a person in two minutes, you needmore practice.15. Get a heavy bag. Many argue that punchbags are no good because they don’t movelike a real person- they are fools. The bag isthere to absorb your most powerful blows.Every time you hit it, hit hard, with kicks andpunches too. Any serious martial artistneeds to know how it feels to hit somethingas hard as possible. A light bag will fly allover the place with the slightest force. Agood 4ft bag is perfect, and will take someserious punishment. It is vital to practicemoves on a bag and in thin air also. If youdon’t have a bag or room for one, get afriend and some focus mitts or kick shieldsto strike, and take in turns. Bag work shouldbe at least once a week, it is very tiring butis also very rewarding.
P a g e | 34
Bag work is essential, as who can reallycall themselves a martial arts expert ifthey are not used to hitting anything? Youwould be simply amazed at how manypeople think they are solid fighters, yetnever hit anything.16. Avoid false masters and people living inthe past. There are many people who were2nd Dan 20 years ago and still think they areBruce Lee; they are not. You need to trainwith good people or alone. The problemwith many people who were good twentyyears ago is they still think they are the ****,but their technique will now be seriouslypoor compared to back in the day. Poortechnique can harm you more than theopponent. If you want to be good then finda good school. If you want to be hard asnails then the MFMA courses are the best, iffollowed properly.
P a g e | 35
17. Have days off. Some people train everyday and are always tired. The best fightershave rest days and so their body canrecuperate from the hard training. Take itfrom me, if you train every day, seriouslyhard, you will soon run yourself ragged andbe weak as a kitten. Worse still, you willbecome addicted to exercise and be moodywhen you finally have those days off, as youwon’t be getting the endorphin rushes youget from training.18. Follow a realistic routine. Every Januarymillions of people make these insaneworkout timetables and give up byFebruary. You need willpower to succeed asa martial artist, but you also have to start atthe beginning. Trying to do three hours aday or something is not practical, and willjust make you give up sooner rather thanlater. Better to do an intense hour than
P a g e | 36
three hours of moderate crap. All or nothingis the only way, but you can still have plentyof 1 minute rests in between kicking orpunching drills.19. Follow your own path. If you want to kicklike a demon, try Taekwondo like I did as akid. Find what you want to do and try it. Weare lucky we now have the internet so weall have the option of being able to researchany styles. I didn’t have the internet when Iwas young, because nobody did. Don’t doKarate because your friend does, do whatyou want to do. Life is short and your hearthas to be in it if you are going to put thehours in. I gave up more styles than mostever did, I was not ‘wrong’ or ‘bad’, I wasjust finding my own destiny.20. Tell people, but don’t shove it down theirthroats. You know you like martial arts, your friends know, your family knows. But
P a g e | 37
you don’t have to tell every single personyou ever meet. There will always be peoplethat only did martial arts so they could lookdown their noses at others. Martial arts areno excuse for poor behaviour. Martial artsskills may make me fit and healthier, butthey won’t make me better than others. Weare all different yet all the same. I know Iam good, but not everyone has to endurehow many grades I have and all the othercrap too. The same with fighting. As good aswe are, we must never forget that otherpeople are very good too. Those thatthreaten with “I am a black belt, don’t fuckwith me”, are also open to attack withoutalways realising. What I am getting at is thatI like martial arts, it is what I do, but I don’twalk around fighting people all day with myKarate suit on. It might be a fun idea, butnot a cool way to live.
P a g e | 38
21. Train on your own. Chances are you willbe on your own when you fight. Manypeople who call themselves experts simplycannot train alone. Training alone isfantastic as it calms the mind and you putyour own pressure on yourself. Knowingyourself inside out, being honest withyourself and not putting too much pressureon yourself will make you a great martialartist. So many Dojos will have you in allweek if they can, practically brainwashingyou, AND taking your money too. In theMFMA, you train when you want to. If youjust want to do yellow belt this year, so beit. No pressure, no bullshit and no timelimits.22. Be prepared to get hurt, but not to die. Itis a fight, you probably will get hit a fewtimes. Don’t give up as soon as you get hit, carry on until the job is done. Lots of people
P a g e | 39
love to dish it out but can’t take it back. Ifyou feel threatened, attack first and make itcount.23. Don’t get trapped. Stay away from wallsor corners, or anywhere you could gettrapped. Even for the best fighters it is hardto fight if you are in a tight spot.24. Fighting against a weapon, go for theweapon. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? In reality,if he has a knife, my primary focus is to getthat knife out the way, do NOT care whatthey do with the rest of their body. If it islife or death, get the weapon and use it onthem immediately and run off; definitelyreport it as soon as it has happened. If it isnot life or death, remove the weapon, incapacitate the enemy and when you runoff, take the weapon with you. It’s not goodenough to kick the knife away and later they
P a g e | 40
stab someone else, or you, when you arenot looking; steal it.25. Tense your stomach muscles. When youthink a fight is going to happen, you will feelslightly nauseous. By tensing your stomachmuscles tightly, the feelings will go quickly.I’m not saying you have to keep them sotense you **** yourself, but regular tensingon and off will help you no end. This is whatthey call fight or flight, some people get thesick feeling and don’t know about tensingthe belly, and either run off or get kicked inbecause they freeze. By tensing you arepreparing the body and eliminating thenausea. There is no getting around it, we allget the sick feeling, but it can be controlled.
P a g e | 41
Why Martial Arts?We all have different reasons why we domartial arts. Many simply join a martial artsschool so they can learn how to defendthemselves. There will always be those thatjust want to go somewhere and fight, but inmy experience the ones with personalitydisorders don’t last long. Some people go intokarate and other styles purely for fitness andsporting reasons. There will always be thosethat are determined to be a black belt also.In 1988 I was six years old and I rememberwatching boxing sometimes on the TV. Evenat that age I thought they could surely kickand do more than a few punches? There hadto be more. There used to be a video shop upthe road from me and I was able to get BruceLee films when I was just a kid. It was either
P a g e | 42
Fist of Fury or the Big Boss that opened myeyes. In my mind I thought these people weredoing exactly the kinds of things I thoughtwere possible, unlike the boxers. I saw manyfilms over the years and although I was veryheavy as a kid, I was determined to be a blackbelt when I was older.I wanted to kick like most never could, soTaekwondo was what I wanted. I did find afriend who did TKD and went with him a fewtimes but even at 11, I thought the Teachingwas poor quality. Years later I joined GTF TKDabout a month or two before I was 14. I lovedit. The standards were very high and most leftwhen it got to blue belt, but at the time Iloved it.I was 16 when I got my first black belt andgave up TKD, but I knew it was not the end for
P a g e | 43
me in terms of martial arts. I wanted to try asmany combat styles as I could in my twenties, before getting heavily involved in styles at 25.The rest is history, and the result of a ton ofhard work, the likes of which has not beenequalled by a single person.I am the type of person who has far too muchenergy, most of the time. Growing up, I triedsports and did not like them much, I even didathletics for Secondary School. But with teamsports it is not my style at all. Martial artsoften stress teamwork but at the end of theday it is all about strengthening yourself andself- improvement. In a team, you can be thebest and everyone is holding you back, or theworst and everyone hates you; it sucks. Inmartial arts, if you put the effort in and youare willing to learn, you can excel. I havelearned more from home and with great
P a g e | 44
patience, than at any three schools locally, allput together. I have offered seminars locallybut you cannot blame them for notresponding; they have their own agendas andI have mine. Some are in martial arts for sport, some for abelt or a sense of belonging. Quite simply, Iam doing martial arts because it is what Ialways wanted to do, and I don’t think I’ll everstop.
P a g e | 45
Types of Martial Artist. Here are different types of martial artist Ihave identified along my path up themountain. The Yellow Belt Grand Master.Always a teacher’s least favourite, the yellowbelt Grand Master thinks he is better than theentire association he is a part of. Basically aknow it all who in reality knows very little. Not necessarily a yellow belt, but any gradeunder 1st Dan who thinks they are the best inthe world. When they get proven wrong orcorrected they leave, probably still thinkingthey are right and their teacher was wrong.Hard As Nails In His Head.Any man or woman who has watched evenmore kung fu films than I did, with reality andfiction becoming increasingly blurred. Surethey talk the talk but they got their green belt
P a g e | 46
by the skin of their teeth. Frequent liesblended with truth, nod along and then wait afew months and they’ll leave, probably theteacher’s fault or it wasn’t difficult enough;more bullshit. The Sporty Ones. The sporty ones love anything competitive, and yearn for the next tournament.Everything is a competition in the Dojo.Surprisingly, many of the most physically fitpeople do not last in martial arts, because itgets more difficult as it goes along, and manyrealise eventually that martial arts and sportare completely separate entities.
P a g e | 47
The Dead-Keen Leaver. The person who is most enthusiastic, buys allthe gear and gives up after 2 weeks. We neverknow why either. The Abandoned. The abandoned are mostly junior memberswho drive their folks up the wall and so theyare dumped at the nearest Dojo to give theirparents some peace. They don’t even want tobe there themselves, yet sometimes they dowell. Most of the abandoned mess about, faila grading or two and are never seen again;shame. The Bizarre Groups. The bizarre groups contain at least five menor women who get the idea that they shouldtry martial arts. They turn up a couple timesand never come back. Let’s try this next week;that sheepish sort of mentality; ultimately
P a g e | 48
leading to nowhere. Trying everything can befun, but not if you want to be good atsomething. The Bully. The bully thinks they are better thaneveryone else because they are maybe one ortwo grades higher. Often they get beaten at atournament and are never seen again. The Mental.Everything is fine for the mental until onelesson where they start confronting othermembers for no reason at all. “What have youbeen saying about me?”, and weird **** likethis, and they are promptly kicked out andnever return; weird. Nobody said or didanything bad to them in the first place.
P a g e | 49
First Place Or Game Over.A fierce version of the sporty ones. Everythingis fine until they get a silver medal instead ofthat gleaming gold. They feel they can neverreturn, and often do not.Middle Of The Road. The middle of the road is a teacher’sfavourite. Just about average at everythingwith no real weakness.Boner For The Teacher. There are always people who obsess over acertain teacher, that teacher leaves and theyleave. The other teacher wasn’t as good. Theother teacher was better is the truth, just abit stricter. This is not always true, as someteachers are irreplaceable.
P a g e | 50
The Five Minute Grand Master. They talk as if they are the best in the world, but have no skills in reality. There are amillion of these people with no ranks, noskills, no schools and no courses for sale.Avoid these people, they just lie on theinternet and to others. Eventually, their liescatch up with them. The Ones Who Want To Be There. The ones who want to be there are the best.No moaning, no bullshit and no bullying at all.Just turn up and get on with it. Look afterthese ones. All Theory And No Practice. These types know the history of the entirestyle in three languages blindfolded. Butwhen it comes to practice they never did sodall. Knowing the history won’t help you on thestreet, knowing the moves inside out will.
P a g e | 51
The Kataphobe. These people cannot stand kata of any kind.Without kata we are just self-defence experts, kick boxers, not martial artists. Kata make thestyles unique, and each is a story. Kata are thearts of martial arts. This is not to say thekataphobe cannot fight, but when it getstechnical, they are nowhere to be found. The Kataholic.Without Kata, obviously the kataholic cannotfunction. It is okay doing kata, andunderstanding some kata applications, but ifyou do not also train in how to fight, you are adancer, not a martial artist. All kata and nosparring make for some very poor fightersindeed. The Board Breaking *****.Any man or woman who can break a millionboards with one hand, but cannot fight for
P a g e | 52
toffee, has no rank and no specific style.Avoid and ignore. The 5th Dan **** Belt. They are a high grade yet are rubbish at justabout every conceivable aspect of the style. How the **** they got to that grade isanybody’s guess. They may as well be onanother planet, as they don’t belong, or makemuch sense as to how they came to be. Forexample, a twenty eight stone Taekwondoexpert who never kicked head height in theirlife, yet somehow, passed the gradings.Should Have Been Chinese.Should have been Chinese is anything otherthan Oriental, yet wishes that they were. Theylearn the language because they do Kung Fuor similar, and some will go to China and livehappily ever after too. In my opinion, beyourself. For example, I love Chinese food,
P a g e | 53
martial arts and some oriental women too,but I am never going to try to be Chinese. Iam about as Chinese as a large steak pasty (apopular Cornish snack). However, there isnothing wrong with being in love with adifferent culture at all.Better Than You Because I Am Chinese/Japanese Etc.Full of bullshit, these people think becausethey are Chinese or something, they are thebest at Kung Fu, better than everyone else. It’s hilarious and yet true how people want toconform to their own stereotypes. Noteveryone who is Chinese is good at Kung Fu.Even a Shaolin monk can get their headkicked in, that’s why they started doing kungFu, to protect themselves. In truth, we areonly good at the styles we do seriously. Thereare thousands of styles I am crap at, and
P a g e | 54
being Chinese, or any race, will not help mykicks or strength in combat.
P a g e | 55
Troll Fighters Are NOT Real Fighters. There are millions of trolls online, slaggingeach other off all day. In martial arts, trollsoutnumber real fighters ten to one. Any pussycan say stuff online, but in reality, Trollfighters are nowhere to be found.Unfortunately, MOST of the Facebook groupsand martial arts forums are dominated bytroll fighters. I had it out with John Clark ofMartial arts Illustrated because he couldn’tunderstand how somebody my age couldwhip anyone he’d ever met or trained in hislife.
I had a pop at Bullshido because theymade up crap about me and nothinghappened.
I had a go at Dale Dugas becausehe is just a board breaking ***** and calls mefake when he has never met me.
Cowards, allof them.
I admit I probably upset lots ofcowards because they are not used to anyretaliation.
P a g e | 56
Basically, I challenged all these people andnothing happened.
Why?
Because at the endof the day, anyone can talk or write bullshitonline, but when it comes to backing up theirwords, Troll fighters are nowhere to be found.
In reality, no amount of crap online will takeaway the fact that I am Grand Master, ownmy own society and have students all overthe world. You cannot change the truth. If you get harassed by anyone online, report itand block them from your profiles, then justignore them. You might get mad for a while, but by ignoring them and carrying on aboutyour business, you are the winner. MFMA ison Facebook and all are welcome to joinMFMA, but in all fairness I respect less than 1per-cent of martial arts people and groupsonline. There are people pretending to be meand allsorts online, but please just ignorethem. These people have ten email addresses
P a g e | 57
and are pathetic to say the least. All MFMAmembers can contact me anytime. Allmembers are treated equally in MFMA, anycrap at all and I just kick people out; it’s thebest way.
P a g e | 58
A Fighter Versus A Martial Artist.I could waffle on for endless pages on thedifferences between a fighter and a martialartist, but I won’t. I like to keep things to thepoint as much as possible.A fighter normally wants to beat someoneelse in an organised match of some kind, sayboxing or MMA. Most fighters are primarilyconcerned with money; fight anyone forenough cash. There are also illegal boxingmatches where people get seriously injuredfor quick cash.A martial artist wants to perfect themselvesand learn how to defend themselves too.Martial artists usually follow a certain style, some even dedicate their lives to a style.Fighters can teach others their ways but ifthere is no set style, moves are lost along theway. In contrast, with a complete system
P a g e | 59
already in place, martial arts can stay thesame for centuries. There are obvious similarities with fightersand martial artists, as we are all only human. Many martial artists are all about the moneyand competition, just like a boxer or similar. Many fighters follow a system loosely basedon a martial art, such as a freestyle system.A fighter would not always win and neitherwould a martial arts expert. We all have goodand bad days. Whereas a martial arts experthas skills worth teaching, most fighters onlyhave a dozen moves at most.I am not writing this book to offend. There aregood and bad in terms of fighters and martialartists. Anyone is only as good as theirteacher. In truth, anyone who is unskilled canbe put in a match up and be classed as afighter. Unfortunately, many only understand
P a g e | 60the language of violence, and have to fight toeat and survive. Anyone can get in a badmood and have a fight, but to learn a skill andearn grades in a system of combat takespatience and determination. Martial arts arenot for everyone, and neither is fighting.Personally, I love martial arts and don’t fightunless I have to. If I had to, I would fightanyone ,that is just how it is.
P a g e | 61
Staying The Course.
Despite owning the MFMA and havingstudents around the world, I do not justpractice MFMA styles. I practice weapons thatare essentially Kobudo weapons. I do Tai Chiand Chi Kung and have no rank in either. I donot agree with rank in Tai Chi, you eitherknow the form or you do not. What I amgetting at is that I don’t believe that anyoneshould be loyal to one style and one styleonly, all their lives. It is only my opinion, and Iwant to make it clear that there is nothingwrong with only doing one style. The most important thing is to be happy withwhat you are doing, not just in martial arts, but in life in general. Anyone who tells youmartial arts are easy is a liar. Most peoplegive up martial arts simply because they getmore and more difficult as you progress.
P a g e | 62
By staying the course, I don’t mean stayingloyal to one style, but to never fully give upmartial arts entirely. I knew I was going to bea black belt one day before I was ten yearsold. If you train hard and safely, martial artswill always be there for you, and never let youdown. Martial arts are like best friends forme. It is easy to get pissed off with a certain Kataor set of moves. In GTF Taekwondo, a patterncalled Yul Gok made most give up. In Tai Chiin Exmouth University in 2003, I enjoyed it butwe never learned much so I gave up. I couldsee no future in GTF and was correct to giveup that too. I did Lau Gar Kung Fu in a coupledifferent schools, but they are just push upsand patterns classes; not learning much thereeither. If you can see no future in your style, ifit progresses too slowly or is not what youwanted, give up. Try and find a style that is as
P a g e | 63
near to what you want as possible. There isno point in hanging in there for a black belt orsash if you are not happy, nor if your teacheris so bad it will take years to learn anything. In terms of martial arts, most people do notknow any different, and so join whatevertheir mate likes. In TKD I had several mateswho also joined, then gave up half waythrough or earlier.GTF would have had me in the Dojang 24hours a day if they could, and I was enjoying ituntil about red tag, when I realised that mosthigher grades could be learned in about 3months, but you would wait for years to getanywhere. Also, in black belt training we didnot do very much, so why bother? One of the only things I hate about martialarts is the way many people prattle on aboutthis style being a way of life and trying to
P a g e | 64
brainwash other people. I can fullyunderstand how many people are put off bythese brainwashing clubs. Martial arts are nota way of life at all.Life is too short and you don’t want to doTaekwondo all your life, then wake up at 55and wish you did kung Fu when you wereyounger as well. You could still learn Kung Fuat 55, but my point is not to waste time. It ispossible that you can spread yourself too thinin martial arts too, but this is not common. Itis easy to try and do too many styles at onceand then you end up a master of nothing.I deliberately learned styles that were notavailable anywhere nearby, to be as differentas possible. In fact, most of the home studystyles I did were not in existence in my Townor County before I started many years ago. Inreality, it would not be possible to do all thestyles I have learnt, all the time. In a typical
P a g e | 65
year, I try and go through at least tendifferent styles. This is a luxury only homestudy can provide, as well as masses ofpatience, lots of sweating and effort too. Many Home study Schools of martial arts area rip off, this is why I broke the mould withMFMA. I never paid much for all myknowledge, but the real payment is the timeinvested and therefore acquiring theknowledge.Lots of Instructors in martial arts have littleor no social skills at all. I used to hate the waystudents would be spoken to like crap if theymissed lessons or similar. In MFMA, you learnwhenever you want. I am teaching on theMFMA DVDs just as I would teach you in reallife. My styles are as strong as any othersaround, make no mistake. I don’t need to goon about all my grades and achievements to
P a g e | 66
sell a course. Plenty of big people don’t knowhow to teach, but I do, so here I am.If you are not happy, give up and try adifferent style. Do some research and findsomething you want to do, and learn whatyou can. The beauty of the MFMA is that youdon’t have any pressure, brainwashing orbullshit at all.By learning more than one approach tomartial arts and self-defence, you will have adefinite advantage over even the most skilledfighters. I have some students that willprobably end up buying most of my courses, and some that are just happy to be membersand belong. MFMA invites all styles to comeand join, regardless of experience. If you wantto get to 7th Dan, I can make it possible, and ifyou want to earn one grade a year, that istotally acceptable too.
P a g e | 67
If you enjoy your training, try and do yourbest at all times. I train on my own at home, and my standards are the highest. In honestythere would be very few who could meet myexpectations. Even when alone, I do the best Ipossibly can. However, If you are hanging inthere for a certain rank, get it and give up.Don’t waste time doing something you dislike, that is work not a hobby.P a g e | 68Learning Martial Arts From Home.To learn martial arts from home you needspace to train, patience and dedication. Manypeople cannot learn anything from home, simply because there is nobody therescreaming at them. I have taught a fewfriends martial arts at my home, but nobodyhad any dedication. My best student onlylasted about four lessons, so I decided to dohome study courses. The MFMA is the goldstandard for home study martial arts.If training at home with a friend, make surethey are someone you can trust not to misusetheir skills. When I was in GTF we had akid who was bullying other children at schoolbecause he did Taekwondo, and so he wasexpelled. The problem with teaching friends isthat if they go out and beat someone up, thefirst thing the cops will ask is who did theylearn from. Be careful who you teach.
P a g e | 69
Most important is to have a routine whenlearning martial arts from home. Without anyroutine, it is impossible to progress. There isno in between in martial arts, you eitherpractice or you don’t. There are many whowere 2nd Dan or something twelve years agobut they are living in the past. You need toput in at least two 45 minute sessions everyweek to be a serious martial artist. Better todo sessions of one hour and put in maximumeffort, than to do bugger all for two hours.Progress only when you feel ready to moveon. I am fully aware that some people will buyMFMA courses and not bother learninganything and call themselves black belts. Those that put in the effort and actuallybother to train regularly will be some of thestrongest martial artists around. I am awarethat there will always be those who cannot bebothered and their excuse is that my courses
P a g e | 70
are at fault. Nonsense .The styles arefaultless, the practitioner needs to put inmore effort. You have to be completelyhonest with yourself to be a great martialartist. If you find a certain move hard, practice untilit becomes easier. The only way to succeed isto practice to the best of your ability. The MFMA styles are ideal for beginners andexperts in other styles too. For beginners, Iwould space out a course over 12 months orlonger. Experts could well learn one of mycourses to 1st Dan in 3 to 6 months, but this iswith intense training. I include a very easy tofollow study guide with all courses in MFMA,to get students used to training in a routine. When I was younger I thought about havingmy own Karate clubs but it is too much hasslefor very little return. Lots of people asked me
P a g e | 71
to teach them over a few beers and nevershowed up the next week. In reality, mostpeople have wives and kids and work andcannot be bothered because they ‘don’t havetime’. To master any skill, you have to maketime for it. Learning at home is an advantagebut it is still difficult to get good, with noshortcut to any rank. The only reason I havebeen Grand Master since 2010, is that I putmore effort in than anyone else.In the MFMA, how quickly you wish toprogress is up to you. Many societies make itso that you have to do so many years beforeyou can even test for the next Dan etc. InMFMA it is the honour system, it is up to youif you put the effort in. Why should you haveto wait 5 years to be 3rd Dan? For example, ifyou went to China and trained with theShaolin Monks for two years and came back, you would probably be better than most who
P a g e | 72
call themselves master in the Western world;they don’t muck about. We don’t muck aboutin MFMA either. Some people who claim tobe experts have students doing other thingsto get that rank, such as yoga etc. It’snonsense. It’s like saying paint my house andI’ll make you a 3rd Dan. However, it is no goodbuying a certificate and pretending to be amaster. When you get into trouble, only youknow how good you are, and pretenders getkicked in.I set up the MFMA to enable anyone to learnmartial arts, and unify all styles in one society.Despite some of the online troll fighters,MFMA continues to grow globally. The stylesin MFMA are not available anywhere else inthe world, so there honestly is zerocompetition. Nobody else comes close toMFMA, and all are welcome to join anytime. As I have written earlier, no pressure, no
P a g e | 73bullshit, brainwashing or time limits. MFMA isthe elite, and as the years go on, MFMA willcontinue to grow.Train hard, do your best and be honest withyourself, then you will become a master ofmartial arts.P a g e | 74How To Choose The Right Martial Art StyleFor You.Lots of people love martial arts but don’tknow where to start. In this chapter I willoffer my advice on choosing what is best foryou. One of the first things to do is have a look andsee what styles are available in your localarea. If you see a style you may be interestedin, do some research online to get moredetails. If there are no details online, go alongto a class and sit and watch the others. If youenjoyed it, chat to the Instructors. If theInstructors seem friendly and approachable, ask if you can have a free trial to see if youlike it. Hand no money over first- you don’twant to pay for a month if you hate it afterthe first week.
P a g e | 75
The internet will be the best help you can geton finding information related to any martialart style. Think about what you want beforeyou start any training. If you want to be agrappler then try Jujitsu or Judo. If you wantto be able to kick well, do Taekwondo. If youwant something slow and relaxing, try Tai Chior Chi Kung. If you have to learn a weapon, for example the nunchucku, get a foam pairto train with. You might have your heart set on somethingthat is not available in your local area. If thestyle does not exist locally, then look for aDVD home study course on EBay or similar.Ebay is great value and there are hundreds ofDVD products to choose from. When you get your DVD set, watch the setfirst, then watch it again and make notes in apad on every move. If you want you can makenotes on the first viewing, simply rewind the
P a g e | 76
techniques until you get it right on paper, andin your mind. When it comes to training, take your noteswith you and refer to them with each move. All Instructors have sheets with them forreference in real Dojos, so you are doing thesame as they do. Train at least twice a weekuntil you feel you have achieved the level youwant to reach. There are many DVD sets that are impossibleto learn from or are difficult from step one.The MFMA courses come with study sheetsand a study guide too, making learning aseasy as possible.Make sure you are studying what you wantto, and not what your friend likes. In mostclubs, there will be a few dickheads andpeople who think they are the best. Ignoreeveryone who is awkward except the chief
P a g e | 77
Instructors and their commands. Byconcentrating on what you have to do, andputting your all into each lesson, you willexcel. If you feel you are not learning verymuch, give up and try something new. Don’tgive your hard-earned money to people whowaste your time as well. You can learnnothing for free at home.

Do The Right Thing.
There are many people who abuse martialarts and use them to rip people off. I startedthe MFMA with Brett Ernest, former owner ofthe SKKA. Brett ignored me for no reason atall. To be fair I gave him a year to respond. After no response, I kicked him out of theMFMA and took over. I cannot work withpeople who behave in a childish manner, sowhat I did was the right thing to do. The newSKKA owners are very rude and I doubt theyactually do any martial arts in real life. I stillpractice Snake Fist and Shorinkenjitsu everyyear, but am not connected to the SKKAanymore.I also have nothing to do with the VKA.Lawrence Valadez ripped off many of hisstudents and has a different excuse for eachday of the week. It is not my fault that he rips
P a g e | 88
people off, and I refuse to be affiliated withany poor conduct or thieves in martial arts. InMFMA, I do not rip people off and I nevershall. I do not respect any VKA affiliatednonsense anymore. It is the right path to take.I understand that there are tons of moronsonline with 50 black belts and similar, buthow much do they know of all these styles?MFMA is aware of these people, but we donot kiss up to anybody. In martial arts and in life we all know rightfrom wrong. Choose the right path every timeand you cannot fail. It does not matter whatpeople think of you. I know people wereupset when I left their clubs in the past, butthey are still in the past, and most of themhave learnt very little over an agonisingly longperiod of time. Many of these people who
P a g e | 89
could still bear a grudge have probably nottrained in the last ten years or so, so let thembe bitter. I am a Grand Master now, and Ihave students all over the world, no amountof bickering and bullshit online can changethat.Deep down we are all just human beings. Likeeveryone else, there are a few people I wouldlike to kill with my bare hands. But beatingthe crap out of someone makes you just asbad as them. Trust me, people who I do notlike know to stay away because I practicewhat I preach, more than most. Living yourlife with grudges and hidden hatred will justshorten your own lifespan.Life throws obstacles in your path, and howyou choose to overcome those obstacles is upto you. Lots of fantastic martial artists and
P a g e | 90
fighters are in Prison because they did notknow when to stop.Do what you think is right and ignore whatothers think. Make mistakes and try again. There is no team mentality in martial arts. Atthe end of the day, unless you are in a gang, you are on your own in a fight. Unless you arein a job and being paid by the hour, do not letpeople boss you about or take advantage ofyou. Most people are scum and will try toboss others about, take advantage and **** onyou from a great height. Don’t let anyonemess with you, but don’t kill people for noreason either. In martial arts and in life, find a balance, tryand have as much fun as possible and do theright thing. Better to be a poor man with a P a g e | 91clear conscience than a rich man living withguilt.
P a g e | 92

Did you enjoy that?
Silliness plain and simple and libel against Dale Dugas.
Daw seems to take all the concerns posted about him and turn them around and claim that his attackers are what he actually is. A deluded fool who lies about being something they are most definitely not.
