As journalists of all kinds prepare to cover the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the National Press Photographers Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Reporters’ Committee for Freedom of the Press have been running workshops in Cleveland and Philadelphia to ensure that journalists and law enforcement officials are familiar with the First Amendment and the rights of photographers, videographers, and journalists to make images of various activities.
The Lubetkin Media Companies produced a podcast recording of the NPPA/SPJ/RCFP panel discussion held July 12, 2016 at Temple University in Philadelphia.
LMC contacted Mickey H. Osterreicher, General Counsel, National Press Photographers Association, who moderated the program, and offered its podcasting services so that those unable to attend the two-hour seminar on the Temple University campus could benefit from hearing the conversation.
“Podcasts continue to be a highly effective communications channel for recording and distributing important discussions,” says Steve Lubetkin, managing partner of LMC. “We have the professional recording gear and the podcasting expertise to produce highly listenable podcasts that can extend the value of these news-making events beyond the audience in the room to a much wider listenership.”
The panelists were:
David Boardman, Dean, Temple University, School of Media and Communication;
Francis T. Healy, Special Advisor to the COmmissioner, Philadelphia Police Dept.;
John Stanford, Public Information Officer, Philadelphia Police Dept.;
Gregg Leslie, Legal Defense Director, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press;
Joseph Gidjunis, Independent Photojournalist; and
Jim MacMillan, Independent Photojournalist and Program Manager, Temple University Center for Public Interest Journalism.
