Justin Jones, director of the Corrections Department, asked the state parole board to consider the early releases. He withdrew the request before the board convened Tuesday after meeting a lack of support from the board and the governor’s office.
Paul Sund, Gov. Brad Henry’s spokesman, said Henry’s staff told Jones the governor wouldn’t support using Nike KD 7 the parole process to control the prison population.
Jones said he hoped the parole board would discuss the issue at its meeting last month and would be able to consider a special docket as early as this week’s meeting. The board didn’t hear the request last month and planned to carry the issue over to this week’s meeting.
Jones said he withdrew his request because of the delay.
“It wouldn’t make any difference really because it was only a short term solution,” he said.
At the time, Jones said he feared prisons would have to cease taking in new inmates in a Nike LeBron 12 matter of weeks when prisons swelled to more than 98 percent capacity.

The state Sentencing Commission earlier this year urged legislators to limit the governor’s role in the parole process.
