A third wave of household utility bill cuts planned in 2014 is viable based on preliminary studies, Antal Rogán, head of the parliamentary group of the ruling Fidesz party, said on Wednesday. He used his Facebook page to reveal that the working group in charge of utility bill cuts held a session on Wednesday and was close to a solution. “Proposals to be tabled to lawmakers will be finalised next week,” he said. Rogán said last month that the Fidesz group was considering a third cut to household bills and would decide on details at its January meeting. He said the percentage of family earnings committed to electricity and gas bills was still higher than the European average. Rogán said every single part of the price would be examined, even ones which had not been looked at before in order to help move the bills-to-income ratio closer to the European average. He said the focus was mainly on electricity and gas. The government reduced household energy bills twice last year, by a combined value of 20%.
