Charles Dickens – A Christmas Carol

This winter season we have a special fundraiser planned on December 2, 2016. One of our members, Alisa Dupuy of The Ladies of History Historical Productions, will be performing a one-woman show of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. She will portray Ebenezer Scrooge’s sister, Fan, come to regale us with his story. The show is about 50 minutes long and features Ms. Dupuy acting out all of the characters and bringing this timeless story to life for us in the delightful ambiance of our beloved Half Moon Inn.
There will be a cocktail hour beforehand and we encourage people to have an early dinner in Newtown at one of the many fine eating establishments before the show which will begin at 7:30 pm. Cocktails will be open house from 6:30 until show-time on December 2nd, 2016.
Cost for this event is $25. All proceeds to benefit NHA.
A Peek into the Past – Newtown’s Holiday House Tour

On Saturday, December 3rd we invite you to celebrate the beauty of the season with the Newtown Historic Association’s house tour. Now in its 54th year, this tour gives visitors the opportunity to peek into several of Newtown’s unique private residences, all dressed for the holidays. Wear your walking shoes because there are 6 town residences on this year’s tour along with several public buildings all within easy walking distance from the town center. The $30 cost of a tour ticket also includes entry into the Half-Moon Inn, home to the Newtown Historic Association. Once inside this beautifully restored 18th century building, tour goers will enjoy period musical entertainment, hearthside colonial cooking demonstrations and refreshments of mulled cider and cheese. Tour hours are from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Advance tickets can be purchased at Newtown Book & Record Exchange, 102 S. State Street and on-line at the Association’s website, www.newtownhistoric.org/housetour. On the day of the tour, purchase tour tickets at the Half-Moon Inn, Court Street and Centre Avenue and at the Stocking Works, 301 South State Street, Newtown.
All proceeds from the tour benefit the Newtown Historic Association and its programs dedicated to the preservation of Newtown’s historical heritage.

Jelly Bean Menorah Lighting in Yardley
December 20 at 5pm
At McCaffrey’s Market in Yardley, Chabad of Yardley will be hosting a public menorah lighting in honor of the first night of the Jewish holiday of Hanukah. The giant menorah will be made entirely of jelly beans. Community members are invited to enjoy cultural Hanukah food, play traditional Hanukah games, make Hanukah kids’ crafts, and even use an authentic olive press.
Lambertville’s Annual Menorah Lighting

At the corner of Bridge and Union Street: The City of Lambertville will hold the Annual Lighting of the Menorah. Rabbi Kornfeld of Chabad of Hunterdon County will join Council President Stegman and Mayor DelVecchio in this celebration. Everyone is welcome to participate.
New Hope’s Hanukkah Service and Menorah Lighting
December 21st at 6pm
At 85 West Mechanic Street: Kehilat HaNahar, the Little Shul by the River, will host a free Hanukkah service and menorah lighting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. It will feature the Koleinu a capella singing group from Princeton University.
