Usually, the people who go to college in the United States and select nursing as a major course, are women between the ages of 18 to 45 years. But while a lot of men will dismiss a nursing career because of its reputation as being a “woman’s profession,” they should not just overlook the nursing field without looking into its great benefits like the fantastic job opportunities and high pay.
Men should look at the shortage of male nurses as a great opportunity to obtaining a stable career path. It cannot be argued that male nurses are in demand these days. HRSA has indicated that men continue to be a very small percentage of the whole RN population thought their numbers have increased in the recent years. Of the estimated 2,909, 375 RNs in the United States, men will consist only 5.8% or 168,181.
Nursing Scholarship
This is the reality. But still a 14.5% increase in the number of male nurses was revealed in the recent years which are an estimate of 146,902 male RNs. This increase is a manifestation that men are beginning to take advantage of the various opportunities available in the nursing field for them. This significant increase of male nurses has been going on for 20 years now.
And yet a staffing shortage still remains and aspiring male nurses like you will have a lot of opportunity available at present or in the future. Until this shortage of in nursing professionals, especially male nurses, is resolved, the availability of nursing jobs and benefits such as male nursing scholarships will remain at the highest level.
