Recife será uma das primeiras cidades do Brasil a ofertar tecnologia 4G para celulares e computadores. O lançamento da última geração de internet banda larga foi feito nesta quinta-feira (13) pela Claro, que escolheu a capital pernambucana para iniciar, com a presença do ministro das Comunicações, Paulo Bernardo, as vendas do aparelho e do modem com o chip 4G Max. Este foi o nome escolhido pela empresa de telefonia para batizar a nova tecnologia com 40Mhz, o dobro da frequência de outras disponíveis no mercado.
Além do Recife, passam a contar com a internet mais rápida Campos do Jordão (SP), Paraty (RJ) e Búzios (RJ). De acordo com o presidente da operadora, Carlos Zenteno, uma legislação municipal recifense, que facilita a instalação de antenas, foi fundamental para a escolha da cidade para o lançamento. “Este é um momento especial para o país todo, Recife será uma das sedes mais importantes da Copa das Confederações e por isso estamos aqui para que este evento seja um sucesso total”, destacou Zenteno.
A tecnologia chega à capital pernambucana primeiramente com capacidade de 5Mhz mais 5Mhz e, gradativamente, atingirá a faixa completa de 20Mhz mais 20Mhz, conforme estabelecido pelo leilão da Agência Nacional das Telecomunicações (Anatel) em junho. Nas demais cidades brasileiras, a rede 4G estará disponível até abril de 2013.

“Desde o primeiro momento, quando iniciamos a licitação da rede 4G, a Claro foi a primeira a apoiar e dizer que tinha interesse de participar. O governo faz leilão, mas para ter sucesso é preciso que as empresas comprem as faixas de frequência. Temos grande expectativa com o início deste novo serviço, porque o 3G no Brasil está extremamente congestionado. Em 2011, o número de linhas aumentou 100%. Em 2012, até outubro, já tinha aumentado mais de 70%”, informou o ministro Paulo Bernardo.

De acordo com a Claro, as ofertas seguirão o formato atual da empresa. Eles estarão disponíveis para pacotes e planos acima de 5GB, atendendo, desta forma, tanto smartphones quanto modems. Os aparelhos compatíveis com a tecnologia são o Motorola RAZR HD, que sairá por R$ 649, e o Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G, que custará R$ 999 no plano Claro ilimitado 200 4G. O modem Huawei E392 poderá ser adquirido por R$ 320 no plano Claro Internet 5GB
