Fill out the form below to nominate an eligible faculty member.
The nomination deadline is February 1, 2016
Announcements and Nominations
In late Fall, the Committee on Teaching and Learning Enhancement sends out a call for nominations to faculty, staff and all enrolled students, followed by one or two reminders. The call contains a link to the nomination page. Students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and staff may make nominations. Self-nominations are also allowed through this same form. Additionally, at the end of each semester, students will be able to nominate their current instructors when completing course evaluations by checking a “Nominate this instructor for the Teaching Excellence Award” box.
Criteria
Outstanding teaching includes but is not limited to the following:
Outstanding facilitation of student learning through the promotion of critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Outstanding success in guiding and facilitating student development and accomplishment in discipline-related competencies
Consistent success in making complex ideas and concepts understandable and meaningful to students
Substantial influence on the academic and professional pursuits and achievements of students
The establishment and maintenance of high academic standards for student learning as reflected in teaching documentation and student achievements
The effective use of innovations in teaching and the promotion of student learning
Review and Selection
The Committee on Teaching and Learning Enhancement will contact potential award candidates at the close of the nomination period to invite them to submit requested support material [this is optional], and any additional information (such as teaching portfolio or support letters) the nominees feel may aid the Committee in its award review and selection process. Each identified candidate is free to deny the Committee access to requested support material, to submit alternate evidence/teaching portfolio instead, or to decline the nomination altogether.
