The free-to-play MMO called ASTA – The War of Tears and Winds will be available for all interested players very soon! Publisher Webzen has announced that the open beta will launch on March 2nd, 2016. Only a few more weeks until you can simply head over to the official game homepage, register an account, and delve into a fantasy world inspired by ancient Asian myths and legends. The free-to-play war game World of Warships has just received another massive update. This time around players are getting their hands on the long-awaited team battles, along with some other changes.

Back at the beginning of February we released the news that World of Warships would be getting a massive update packed full of brand new content. Despite the fact that Wargaming have been releasing lots of community driven content, and various crossover updates, they have still managed to put together a huge update for their free-to-play game. For anyone that hasn’t read the previous article, gather around and get comfortable, as this 0.5.3 update for World of Warships is huge.

Team Battles Are Finally Here

It’s clear that Wargaming have been listening to their community, as these Team Battles are something that players have been asking for ever since the game launched. Clan Battles is something that World of Tanks fans already have in their Wargaming release, so a lot of people could see no reason as to why big team matches were not included in World of Warships. The time has finally come for fans of the naval game to gather their friends and head into battle against other teams. There are a few rules that captains need to stick to when setting up their team, and also when entering a battle, so we’ve decided to put them into an easy-to-digest list:

Team Battles are available from level 12.

Teams cost 300,000 credits to create and 300 doubloons for any further teams.

You can name the team on creation and will be able to rename for a doubloon cost.

Teams can have up to 10 players, but only 7 can enter a battle at once.

There is a division and ranked system for teams.

For a more in-depth look at the new Team Battles, then head over to the official website to get stuck in to the juicy patch notes. It will be interesting to see how the community uses these new team battles, and also how clans form. It seems to be a great step in the right direction for more community involvement.

Commander Skill Overhaul

Wargaming have also changed the way that some of the commander skills work, and they have paid special attention to skills that have an impact on secondary weapons and anti-aircraft fire. There are two new skills called “Manual Control for Secondary Armament”, and “Manual Control for AA Armament” that greatly increase the effectiveness of these two secondary weapons, making these skills an interesting pick for large battleships or escort cruisers.

On top of these major changes, a whole load of new balance changes are coming to the game in the form of credit and XP changes, and also some ship changes to bring them more in-line with the other ships in the game. As we have already mentioned, it will be great to see how the community reacts to these changes, and also how the new captain skills will have an impact on the playstyle of battleships and cruisers. Watch this space for more news on World of Warships, or read our Game of the Day to get a better look at how the game works.
