Valve has announced that Dota 2 will soon run on the Source 2 engine. This brings new gameplay possibilities and better graphics to the free-to-play MOBA.

With one of the biggest eSports events in the world, The International, finishing only a few weeks ago, we haven't even had the chance to finish celebrating before we get some more excitement from the Dota 2 camp. Dota 2 is moving to the Source 2 engine. The original Source engine has had many great games built on its shoulders; Counter Strike: Source, Half Life 2, Portal, to name just a few. Now it’s time for Dota 2 to move on to greener pastures with more pixels, and an awesome new engine.

HUD and UI Updates

Currently there are still a few features that need some work, but Valve promises to iron out any issues as fast as possible to give players the best experience possible. The development team mentioned that the HUD and UI will be getting some love in the coming months, updating many of the in-game options after listening to player feedback.

One issue is that the Reborn update is quite large, due to all of the juicy content and new engine. Players might want to take account of this when working out when they want to play, because there’s nothing worse than sitting down to a game and finding out you have a huge download to wait for. Head over to the “play” tab in the Dota 2 client to get started.

The free-to-play game, Goodgame Empire, is having another Berimond event! Players of the empire-building game will know that this event happens from time-to-time, but now it’s back with a bit of a difference.

The two emperors are at it again! Grimbert of House Ersidae and Leopold III of House Gerbandit are asking for help to fight for the right to the throne of Berimond. Team Goodgame Studios have kicked off their regular Berimond event for players to get involved in and earn prestige in the event.

Berimond with a New Twist

This time around, the Berimond event has a few key differences; players that wish to participate need to be at least level 30, and have to donate some resources to enter the campaign. There are 3 different camps for players to choose from:

Simple Camp: This is a small and cheap camp, designed for new players or players that don’t want to commit lots of resources. Here players will have a small amount of pre-built tents and buildings.

Veteran Camp: The Veteran Camp is the middle option. Players can use resources in order to gain higher level buildings and tents in their Berimond camp.

Warlords’ Camp: This camp is for the serious players. Players can spend rubies to get a fully pre-built camp with the highest level buildings and tents. A formidable force.

During the event, there are a number of new units available, along with a bunch of other tweaks and changes to the standard gameplay. If you want a recap of all of the changes and a complete rundown of the event, you can check the official forum here.

Hi-Rez Studios has managed to seamlessly integrate the existing PC version with the version now available on Steam. When thinking about which game to choose for this Game of the Day, I wanted to choose something a little bit different. Tanki Online is a charming, fast-paced, and completely free-to-play tank game that draws players in after just a few matches.

Initially the game seems very difficult to become competitive as a new player, but once you’re involved and have a half decent tank, it becomes a whole lot of fun.

Fast & Fun

A lot of “war” games these days try hard to add an aspect of realism and grit, by having historically accurate weapons and vehicles, and controls as close to the original as possible. This style of game is all well and good for history buffs and those that take gaming seriously, however Tanki Online is nothing of the sort.

Tanki Online has a number of out-of-this world weapons and tanks, and it sometimes feels like you’re pushing around toy vehicles making the laser and gun noises yourself. It is competitive, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is one of the main reasons why I have chosen Tanki Online to be the Game of the Day. It is a nice blend of fun action-packed gameplay, and fun ridiculousness that lets you just chill out and blow some other players up.

Although players can spend money on the game to get more crystals and upgrade their tank, it’s not too much of a barrier for new players. If you follow the advice that we gave then you should have no problem at all keeping up with the competition and destroying some tanks.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, click the link below and get stuck in to the battlefield!

For those that haven’t heard, Tanki Online is a free-to-play tank game, where you have to team up and fight other players in a customized tank. I’s easy to pick up, but difficult to master, and can sometimes be frustrating when you’re up against some experienced players. That’s where we step in to try to help you out.

Crystals

One big mistake that new players make is spending their crystals on various useless things, and then getting ruined by other players with better tanks in the game. Even as a free-to-play gamer it’s possible to stand shoulder to shoulder with more experienced players if you follow this advice: When you start to play, pick one strategy and stick to it. Choose one turret, and one hull, and then upgrade them with the crystals that you earn. This way you’ll end up with a pretty powerful turret and hull combination and be able to hold your own against other players, even those who spend some real money on the crystals in game.

Battle Modes

In Tanki Online, we have a choice of four different game modes to play with, each of them require different tactics, and some reward more crystals than others, so it’s important to choose the right game mode for suit your playstyle or your goals.

The four balttle modes are Team Death Match (TDM), Control Points (CP), Capture the Flag (CTF), and Death Match (DM). For new players, it’s normally a good idea to stick to the standard Death Match when you start out. This is partially because it gives you a nice starting place to learn how the game works without upsetting other players, and you’ll also earn way more crystals this way. You get crystals based on your performance, and in the team game modes you earn crystals based on the performance of your whole team.

Basically, if you're interested in farming crystals, play deathmatch.

The free-to-play empire-building game from Machine Zone is getting a huge update. Players of Game of War – Fire Age have a whole host of new content to look forward to.

This appears to be the biggest update yet for the mobile game, and we are sure that players will spend a lot of time exploring the new options available and the new in-game content. The update adds more social aspects to the game, mainly surrounding Alliances, and it also adds some Kingdom and Alliance events.

New Content

Alliance City: Players can now join forces with their friends and build a central community hub. The alliance city lets players work together and earn prestige faster than ever.

Core Crafting: This is an entirely new system that lets players craft and customize equipment, making it even more powerful than before.

Alliance Events: Another one of the social additions. These events let all of the players in an alliance participate in events to earn huge prizes and get their names on a leaderboard.

Kingdom Events: All players across the entire kingdom can work together in massive wars against other invading kingdoms.

On top of the listed changes, there are loads of other smaller changes that make life a little easier for players. There are bug fixes and quality of life changes that make the game experience much better. If you want to see the full list, you can check it out here on the app store.

Game of War – Fire Age is completely free to play, so if you want to see if it’s your kind of things, then click the link below and try it out.

After we tried out the voxel MMORPG from Trion Worlds, Trove, we thought it was good fun. Today we will be helping out new players by giving you a quick guide on how to get your cornerstone up and running, and a place you can be proud of.

For those not in the know, a Cornerstone is your home in the Trove universe. They can be moved throughout the world at will whenever you venture into a new area. This means that your creations will follow you through the game, so you don’t have to worry about losing your base after working hard to make it look awesome, and it’s perfectly fine to leave it to clear dungeons and explore the world.

Starting Out

First of all, you need to find a suitable plot to start building on. All you have to do is walk up to the spot where you’d like your creation be and push the “D” button on your keyboard. You get given a pre-built little house to start off with, but you can customize it to your heart’s content.

One of the main benefits of having a cornerstone is the ability to keep crafting benches in it. The benches let you do all sorts of useful things in the Trove universe. The Adventurer’s Crafting Bench and the Builder’s Crafting Bench are two that you should focus on getting first, and here’s why:

Adventurer’s Crafting Bench

This is the bench that lets you build loads of important and useful things to help you on your way in Adventure More. With this bench, you can craft a Class Changer, which is useful for switching between classes on-the-fly, without having to head back to the hub world.

One of the most important things that the Adventurer’s Crafting Bench gives you, is the ability to craft a Forge. The Forge is probably the most useful item you can keep in your cornerstone as it lets you upgrade all of the gear and loot you find to make it even stronger. This lets you fight tougher and more dangerous enemies without having to find new gear.

Builder’s Crafting Bench

This is the bench that you want to craft if you’re interested in making a cool looking cornerstone. With the Builder’s Crafting Bench you can craft yourself a Workbench. Workbenches are great for those that like making impressive creations and awesome houses. The Workbench lets you craft decorations and special blocks for your cornerstone, so you can give your creation an edge over the competition.

Trove is a social game at its heart, which is another reason that the Builder’s Crafting Bench is useful. It lets you craft a Club Card, which is what you need if you want to start a club with your friends. They can be quite pricey, but once you’ve got it up and running then you’ll have your own world to create and explore with your friends.

So it’s been a whole year since the mobile strategy game was released, and Star Wars: Commander has been keeping track of statistics since the launch of the game. 20 million players have downloaded the game, and there have been over 500 million battles fought.

Players have chosen between the light and the dark side, picking out their favorite character to take into battle. Nearly 5 billion stormtroopers were deployed, with just under 3 billion from the rebel side. It seems that players have an evil tendency, and like to choose the dark side of the force. You can check out the full infographic here, with loads of interesting facts and statistics about the game.

Along with the news we also have a small update to the game; Star Wars: Commander is getting a new Commander Info Network. This means that players will be able to stay up to date on news, features, updates and more.
