For online gamers, there aren’t many more exciting moments in life than finding a closed beta invitation in their email inbox. Being part of a test weekend definitely makes this list as well. The folks over at S2 Games (Heroes of Newerth) have just announced such a trial weekend for their upcoming free-to-play MOBA Strife.

Players will have to register for a trial account between February 20th and February 24th. The special test weekend will take place between February 28th and March 2nd. The publisher wants to examine players’ behavior and general gameplay trends with a larger audience than the one that is participating in the closed beta of the game. This could be an indicator that the studio is slowly but surely preparing for the MOBA’s open beta testing phase. This would not necessarily come as a big surprise seeing as the online game’s closed beta had already started much earlier than anticipated and its open beta is scheduled for later this year. Also, the announcement for Strife’s trial weekend comes only shortly after the publisher announced that more closed beta invitations had been sent out.

The trial account will only work for the game’s trial weekend. Players who do receive a closed beta key have the option to change it into a closed beta account. It is not guaranteed, though, that every participator in Strife’s trial weekend will automatically receive an invitation to the game’s closed beta.
