Dinosaurs, machine guns, and survival are just three things you’ll find when playing the new survival game Ark: Survival of the Fittest.
Survival games have been gaining more and more popularity over the last few years, with games like H1Z1 and DayZ becoming huge in the genre. For anyone that likes to play survival games, then ARK: Survival Evolved is definitely a name that you will have heard, and the development studio behind the game has released a new free-to-play version of their PC game. Ark: Survival of the Fittest is a battle-royale style fight to the death between up to 72 players at the same time. Wildcard has coined the genre “MOSA” to describe the game, taking inspiration from MOBA games like League of Legends or Dota 2, and including the word “survival” in the title. Players are invited to jump into the Multiplayer Online Survival Arena, and battle to the death. The launch video shows off some of the fast-paced gameplay, where players have to do whatever it takes to come out on top. Throughout the match it’s possible to craft weapons, defences, bases, and even use the roaming dinosaurs as mounts to overcome the enemy and be the last one alive. The game-mode started as a spin-off modification to the original game, and has slowly been developed into the fully functional game-mode that is playable today. Wildcard are trying to promote the game as a new competitive esport, and are offering cash prizes to the top players in the leagues. The prize pool is over $50,000, so there’s a lot up for grabs for the best players in Ark: Survival of the Fittest.
