Mike Hogan, Ohio State University Extension educator and sustainable agriculture coordinator has been named president of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.

The Ohio Soybean Association and Beck’s Hybrids has named Ryan Rhoades of Marion County the 2014 Beck’s Young Farm Leader of the Year. In its second year, the Beck’s Young Farm Leader Program recognizes young Ohio farmers who have taken leadership roles in their communities while developing a foundation for farming success.

Ellen Gilliland and Stacie Seger have joined the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association. In her role as project manager, Gilliland will oversee outreach, event planning and coordinating work of the OCWGA, the Ohio Corn Marketing Program and the Ohio Small Grains Marketing Program. Seger, as communication manager will be responsible for managing the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association communication efforts, including social media, website and e-newsletters.

Nathan and Jennifer Brown of Highland County have been elected chairs of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Young Agricultural Professionals Advisory Team. Brad Heimerl of Johnstown was elected co-chair. Liz Funderburgh of North Lewisburg was elected secretary.

Latham and Katie Farley of Englewood have been appointed to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s national Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee for the 2015-2017 term.

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation presented Distinguished Service Awards to William Batchelder, speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and agriculturist Bart Montgomery of Fayette County. John Davis of Carroll County received the Cooperative/Ag Educator award and Celeste Baumgartner of Butler County was honored with the Agricultural Communicator award.
