The United States youth international will join the Union’s Academy setup in the fall.

A 15-year-old attacking prospect who scored 20 goals last season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy is joining the Philadelphia Union Academy this fall.

Axel Picazo is leaving Lonestar SC to join the Union Academy U16 team, according to a tweet from @USAProspects.

The Austin, Texas native who turns 16 next April was one of 58 players called into a U.S. youth national team futures camp in May 2015. Union Academy players C.J. dos Santos, Nykolas Sessock and Brendan Aaronson were also part of that camp.

He scored 20 goals in 38 appearances for Lonestar SC’s U14 and U16 teams last season.

TopDrawerSoccer.com listed him in its Best XI for the U14 Development Academy showcase back in June, calling him “one of the most entertaining players” from his age group with “an array of flicks and tricks he’d use to beat defenders.”
