Washington Township, Salesianum School, Lower Dauphin, West Chester Henderson, Conestoga one win away from finals

Familiar names in high school boys soccer from the region will be playing in state semifinal matches this week in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

New Jersey
Washington Township continues its improbable run after losing six of their last seven regular season matches with a South Jersey crown and a chance on Tuesday to return to the state final they won in 2015 and 2014. The Minutemen will face Central Jersey champions Hunterdon Central at 7:30 p.m. at Hopewell Valley High School for the Group IV semi.

Mainland will face Toms River South at Toms River North High School at 7:30 p.m. in the South vs Central Group III semi while Delran takes on Bernards at 5 p.m. at St. Augustine Prep in Group II and Haddon Township plays Asbury Park at 7:30 p.m. at Haddonfield High School.

The finals will be played Sunday at Kean University.

Pennsylvania
Local rivals West Chester Henderson and Conestoga will play for a Class 4A state title this weekend if they are both able to get past the semifinals on Tuesday.

West Chester Henderson will take on Elizabethtown at Exeter Township High School in Reading at 6 p.m. Tuesday after a 5-1 win over North Penn on Saturday. Conestoga will have to beat Northern Allegheny at Chambersburg High School at 6 p.m. to get to the final and set up a possible rematch with the team that spoiled their undefeated season to win the District 1 final.

Lower Dauphin will look to continue their unbeaten season in a Class 3A semifinal against Cathedral Prep at DuBois Area High School at 6 p.m. while Gettysburg, which has already knocked off Archbishop Wood and Radnor, will play Northwest Lehigh at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon at 7 p.m.

Lansdale Catholic is the lone team from the region still left in Class 2A after a 5-1 win over Salisbury. They’ll play Lewisburg at Hamburg Area High School at 7 p.m. in one semifinal while Quaker Valley will face Shady Side in the other semi.

District 3 foes Kutztown and Camp Hill will play at Cedar Crest at 5 p.m. on Tuesday for a spot in the Class A final while District 7 rivals Sewickley Academy and Seton LaSalle play in the other semi.

Hersheypark Stadium will host the Class 3A and Class A finals on Friday and the Class 4A and Class 2A finals on Saturday.

PA Independent
The Hill School and William Penn Charter will play for a trophy on Wednesday in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association final.

The top-seeded Hill School defeated defending champs The Haverford School 4-2 last week in one semifinal while William Penn Charter squeaked by The Kiski School 1-0 in the other semifinal.

The final will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Immaculata University.

Delaware
Sussex Central is all that stands in the way of Salesianum School playing for their seventh straight state title.

The top-seeded Sallies beat Sussex Tech 5-0 on Saturday to advance to the Division One semifinal while Sussex Central advanced on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Caesar Rodney. The game will be played Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Dover.

Appoquinimink and Wilmington Charter will play in the other Division One semifinal on Wednesday after both advanced with overtime wins. Appoquinimink topped Polytech 3-2 in overtime while Wilmington beat Newark 1-0 in overtime. The game will be played Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Smyrna.

The Division Two semifinal will feature Indian River and St. Georges at Dover at 6 p.m. and St. Andrews and Tower Hill at Smyrna at 6 p.m.

The finals for both divisions will be played on Saturday.
