Steven Page met Craig Northey in Vancouver over 15 years ago and since then, the two Canadian musicians have become not only friends but collaborators as well. On April 10 Steven Page, Craig Northey and special guest Kevin Fox will perform some old favourites as well as new unreleased tunes at Brock University’s Centre for the Arts.

Steven Page was the lead singer and songwriter with Barenaked Ladies for twenty years, the Toronto-based band he formed in 1988 with Ed Robertson. Known for his dynamic, physically exuberant performances, his powerful tenor, quick wit, and an arsenal of songs that span the gamut between humour and pathos, Steven and the band toured the world, selling out venues ranging from Madison Square Garden to the Royal Albert Hall.

Page has worked as a solo artist since leaving Barenaked Ladies in 2009, performing often with Northey of the band, Odds.

This concert will feature much of Steven Page’s solo material, as well as a few Odds songs and the Barenaked Ladies classics audiences have grown to love. This audience will also be one of the first to hear his unreleased solo work.

“It sounds like Steven Page. Well, like the inside of my brain and heart. It’s stylistically all over the map: from power-pop to disco to big band jazz to folk,” said Page of his new album. “Even I am a little surprised at how upbeat it is, honestly.”

“Although I spent much of the past year playing solo acoustic shows (occasionally joined by Kevin Fox on cello), I’m currently in the process of putting together a new live band that will include the traditional rock elements of guitars and drums along with strings and wind instruments, and lots of singing. I’m hoping that by the time we get this show on the road, audiences will get to see a show that is both theatrical and intimate.”

The Centre for the Arts performance will feature Page and Northey on guitars and vocals along with Page’s Kevin Fox, joining them on cello and backing vocals. This St. Catharines performance will be the first time that this “dream team” will have the opportunity to play together after planning this collaboration for quite some time.

Kevin Fox has always been a Centre for the Arts favourite and has played before audiences in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre stage many times with other artists such as Barney Bentall and Chantal Kreviazuk.

Steven Page with Craig Northey and special guest Kevin Fox will be performing on Apr. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Box Office at 905-688-5550 x3257 or visit Arts.BrockU.ca.
