On Sunday morning, Texas LT Governor Dan Patrick’s twitter account posted what many considered an insensitive tweet just a few hours after today’s Orlando mass shooting was reported.

Here is the hideous tweet ( now deleted) from @DanPatrick Lieut Gov of Texas after the Orlando massacre- pic.twitter.com/FbZznmmlP6

The tweet was quickly deleted after drawing criticism from people who saw it as an slap in the face to victims of the attack at the Orlando gay nightclub.

Patrick went on to claim that the post was scheduled before the mass shooting in Orlando happened but not many believe his story.

TX Lt. Governor @DanPatrick, you are a disgrace to your state in this time of national sorrow. You should resign. https://t.co/zOD2oi1XWD

If a man does reap what he sows, the vile @DanPatrick 's just deserts are long overdue. You're not fit to serve Dan.

@MiaFarrow @DanPatrick I am sure the shooter could also quote from his scriptures to justify the massacre!

@DanPatrick the verse you'll want to familiarize yourself with is Matthew 7:21-23, which a mightier voice than mine will say to you one day

@DanPatrick You pervert Christianity in a way that would make Jesus cringe. Where is your compassion?
