So here's a new curve ball I haven't heard of someone dealing with yet...

One of my stations in Phoenix has begun syndication on our afternoon show as a night show for client stations. We are currently in 4 additional markets, and we're looking at hitting 10 or more before the end of the year. The host would like to create a web stream JUST for the show. If you can envision, we'd like to stream our show when its live here, then when the syndicated breaks start running in other cities switch the "show stream" to the streams of those markets, possibly with some kind of segue or promo when the switch happens. When he's not on the air anywhere, then the stream could then be used to play a "best of" type of content.

As part of the syndication adventure, I already purchased a massively overpowered IBM Xeon server which is doing nothing but FTP for the client markets, so if possible I'm looking to run the automation there. I've stumbled onto RadioDJ (http://www.radiodj.ro/) which looks like it would do exactly what I'd like it to do, but I'm not sure that it could be programmed to run completely headless, especially on a machine without a sound card. I could fix that with a $2 eBay USB dongle though...

The app claims to be able to "rebroadcast" live streams based on a schedule (real time, no reason for delay in this case), pick tracks at random without needing to be scheduled (for the "best of" part), and also has a built in Icecast encoder which could send the signal out to the cloud to the streaming provider of our future choice.

I'm just concerned that there ISN'T a paid, supported option for this software, and I'm wondering if there is something better that I could potentially cut a check for that I would be happier with in the end. We're a WideOrbit shop if that is of any relevance to this idea, but I'm NOT trying to spend WideOrbit type money on this stream... its not (currently) going to have that kind of ROI.

Has anyone had experience with an idea like this?
