Hola amigas! I wanted to stop by today and share a card with you. I haven’t posted one in far too long! Firstly, I want to thank you for the awesome response to my brand new class. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You gals rock so much. I can’t wait to get the class rolling with all of these fabulous crafters!

Today, I wanted to share a card made with this fabulous stamp set, Papillion by Tim Holtz for Stamper’s Anonymous.

When I look at the stamp set, the first thing that comes to mind is typical vintage and grungy style. I love that style, but I wanted to make this set fit my style a little better. Here’s what I came up with:

The key to this was the clean touches of white and the bright color palate to offset the neutral feeling of the kraft and rich brown ink. This Mid-Tone Shadow Ink in Bubble Gum and happy orange paper from the Hero Hues Sunshine Layering Papers. I love this color combo so much. Cutting a thin border around the outside of the pretty butterflies, the sentiment (from Hero Arts’s Classic Sentiments) banner and the thin Apron Lace punched border are perfect for a modern feel.

I love taking sets that “look” a certain way and bringing them in to a whole new category of awesome. I love this set, and bringing in bright colors is the perfect way to make this set work for me. What sets are you loving right now that don’t necessarily fit your “normal” style?

I’m now in Chicago with the Lawn Fawn crew. We’re working hard to make sure everything is just right before the show, and it’s been absolutely amazing getting to know everyone better (and in person!). I saw the papers from the two new collections in real life for the first time today, and my eyes just lit up like a little kid in a candy store. They’re amazing! Finally, the little pieces of prettiness that I’ve been seeing on my computer screen for months are finally here. It’s absolute magic! Make sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog for the full reveal of Dewey Decimal, and check back on Monday for the full reveal of Fa La La. I hope that you love these lines as much as I do. They’re very near and dear to my heart. <3

I’ll pop in with pictures from our prep process and CHA updates over the next few days. I also managed to make a couple cards before I left, so I have more to share with you throughout the conference week. Yay! See you again soon, lovelies.

Love,

Britta

P.S. By the way, have you seen the new sets from Tim Holtz for this upcoming CHA? I’m in love. I could make some more cards in my style with these for sure. :)
