Heike FarkasIf you enjoy your herbs and know and understand rosemary, thyme, parsley, lavender and basil, come along to this herbal workshop where Heike will show you how to recognise and use some not-quite-so-common herbs. You will learn about the nutritional/medicinal values and home use possibilities of about a dozen different herbs – herbs that you may have heard about previously but not yet explored.Heike will also have potted plants on show to help with identification, for example, you will be able to see and compare the differences between Gotu Kola, Alehoof and Native Violet. There is a full program of FREE events and workshops happening at the Gardens every Saturday as part of the Community Partnership under the ‘Living Smart Saturday’ Program between Yandina Community Gardens Inc.  and Sunshine Coast Council. All workshops and DVD screenings commence at 9.30 am (unless otherwise indicated) and go for approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours; the guided garden tours commence at 9.00 am.  These FREE events and workshops are open to everyone in the community, not just members and volunteers at the Gardens and there is no need to book a place  - unless otherwise indicated for that particular workshop.  It is advisable to bring along a notepad and pen for taking notes, as well as a hat, sunscreen and your water bottle.
