Hey there! Halloween is right around the corner and I know it may be tough to choose a Halloween Costume since there are so many to choose from. If you need some inspiration, try this Skeleton Makeup Tutorial I did using 6 makeup products. Let me know how it goes if you decide to give it a go. This Skeleton Makeup Look was a fun and exciting look to do and I’m glad to share it with you. Here is the steps I took to create my Skeleton/Skull Makeup Look. I can’t wait to see your looks xo

STEP 1: Prep your skin with your favorite skin prep or primer to help your makeup last longer. I used the Mehron Skin Prep Pre-Makeup Toner.

STEP 2: Now, using any white face paint or makeup you have, create layers all over your face using dabbing motions to create texture like a skull on your face. I used the Wolfe FX Face Paint in White.

STEP 3: Then use any translucent powder and lightly dust it all over the white areas to set it. I used the City Color HD Translucent Powder.

STEP 4: Using your black eyeliner, start to sketch out areas of your face to use as guidelines. Begin by carving our your eye sockets, nose, cheekbones and mouth. Use a reference photo of a skull or skeleton if you need additional help. I used the Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil Eyeliner in Noir.

STEP 5: Now, take your black face paint and in my case a black gel eyeliner and fill in your eye sockets, nose, and start creating your teeth (refer to video to see how to create teeth) and then fill in your cheek sockets. I used the Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner in Noir.

At this point, it may look a bit one-dimensional or messy but not to worry. It’s ok if it doesn’t look perfect, we still have a lot of blending and shading to do.

STEP 6: Now onto the shading! Take a small or flat shadow brush with any black eyeshadow and start shading areas by your teeth, eyes and forehead. This will give your skeleton/skull more life and dimension. I used the NYX Cosmetics Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Raven.

One you’re done, blend out the lines to create more shadows and to give ares of your face a multi-dimensional look. Begin by starting at the base of the line with the most pressure and release the further you move like I show in the video. Then use a fluffy brush to blend more shadows on your face.

If you just wanted to create a skeleton face or skull, then you can stop here. The rest is optional. If you want to create bones on your neck or décolleté continue on to see more steps.

STEP 7: Onto the neck and/or décolleté. Use the same black eyeliner you used to sketch out lines on your face and create reference lines for your bones on your neck area. Again, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

STEP 8: Remember that white fact paint or makeup we used in step 2? You’re going to use the same product to highlight areas that are supposed to be your bones.

STEP 9: Fill in the rest of the areas that are still revealed or show flesh with the same product you used in step 5 (black face paint and in my case black gel eye liner). I recommend using black face paint or body paint for this larger area, simply because it gets the job done faster.

Keep adding layers until you are satisfied.

STEP 10: Sweep some black eyeshadow you used in step 6 all over your neck/décolleté to create more dimension.

STEP 11: Put on your costume (if you have one) and fill in areas that reveal flesh and add more bones if needed like I did in my video.

STEP 12: Last and final step – Have fun and rock your fierce look as you would on a runway. I’m sure your look came out amazing.

If you tried this look, feel free to leave a link of your post or photo in the comments so I can show you some love or tag me on your social media so I can like, comment, etc. ♥

I hope you all have a great, safe and happy Halloween.
