I ordered this bike rack to go onto the back of my 2000 Chevy Cavalier. The bike I had in mind for it was a 100$ special and I really didn’t want to spend twice that on a rack, so this seemed a good choice. I put it on a relatively small car, but the straps seem to be more than long enough (especially the two on to bottom, which I had to tie off on one of the bikes). It seems that this rack will fit almost any car with an actual trunk and no rear lip/spoiler. Allen’s website has a fit list.
In terms of build quality, I am satisfied. The components seem to be of good quality, and everything was included in the box. There is ample room between each mounting point to put adult bikes on. The directions state that there is a 100lb weight limit, which may be a problem if you choose to use several very heavy bikes. However, I recently had three full-size mountain bikes on it (which I suspect was a little above the weight limit), and everything was fine for an hour trip at 55mph.
Another good point for the bike mounting points: they can be rotated, so if you have a bike without a horizontal bar running from the base of the steering rack to the seat post, you can rotate the mounts to make it work. This is very handy, and worked well for the aforementioned mountain bikes. I have used a hitch-style rack before on another vehicle and that required you to purchase a 10-20$ adapter per bike that does not have the horizontal bar.
It is a good idea to put little pieces of cloth between the clips and your trunk to avoid scratching the paint. I took the advice of other reviews and did this and am happy to say there were no scratches on my trunk. It is also a good idea to tighten the straps down once you have all the bikes on the rack, so the foam padding has a chance to settle on the trunk.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this product.
A word about the shipping: it was shipped promptly, but it was also shipped in its retail box, with no padding. The box was fairly beat-up and had a few small holes in it from where ends of the rack moved around. Nothing was damaged or scratched, though.

I purchased this bike rack for my 2013 Toyota Corolla and its been working wonderfully ever since I got it.
Setup was a breeze and the construction was substantially more impressive than I expected at first.
Everything fit and tightened properly, and the whole works doesn’t move or feel like it’s going to fall off when you’re driving around with it.
The only issue I had initially was that the straps seemed to wiggle a bit when I drove, from the wind hitting them. This was easily fixed by grabbing the end hook and twisting the strap once or twice before hooking it back onto the car.
The wind hitting the flat straps caused them resonate, like a guitar string, so twisting them inhibits their ability to do so.
That entire solution however, was provided to me by their customer support over email. Which was close to if not the best customer support service I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
I sent them an email with my earlier issue, and they responded in *minutes*! They were very polite and helpful, with the earlier solution provided in only a few quick exchanges along with pictures! Their support team seem to actually know and understand their product! A rare case in these days.
I’ve been using the rack for several weeks now and it’s been holding up great; after such a pleasant experience with everything having to do with the company, Allen has definitely earned my future business.

I have receive this product about a month ago and have used it several times.
First it does what it is supposed to. Which is to hold up bikes. At one point I have it carrying 3 bikes at the same time. At first it seems to wobble quite a bit but still held up pretty nicely. I guess it is the weight that causes it. The top strap is very solid however I wish the other straps are just as solid.
Warning: Please make sure that your bike pedal are either tied down or covered because it will scratch your car, depending on maker and model. I have a Mazda 3 and the bumper was scratched because of the pedal swinging back and forth. I learned my lesson the hard way. I now tie it up and wrap up the pedals with cloths to prevent scratches. I do wish that the design would include this part into it so that pedal won’t scratch car lol.
