Our history…
We are Shropshire Petals, growers and producers of natural petal confetti.  Originally we were an arable farm, growing crops and award-winning potatoes.   This year marks our 10-year anniversary from when we first started to grow and sell confetti.

We were first inspired to start up Shropshire Petals when…
Owner, Michael Bubb gave his mother some land on the farm to start growing flowers.  Inspired by the Laura Ashley fashions at the time, she decided to dry her flowers and sell them at local Women’s Institute markets, which soon led to them being sold to retailers and wholesalers.  In 2005, we were approached by someone asking if we could dye our flower petals for confetti… and this is when Shropshire Petals was born.  Already growing delphiniums, these made the perfect confetti petal, as they are small and light giving that perfect flutter when thrown over a newly married couple.  We grew a variety of colours and dried them naturally, which meant we didn’t have to dye any of our petals, ensuring they were 100% natural and biodegradable.

We are inspired by…
Everything around us is inspiring.  We take a lot of our inspiration from brides we meet and speak to, especially when it comes to introducing new petal colours and types.  Each year we grow and trial new colours and petals which sometimes work and sometimes don’t.  Our biggest success was a lilac petal we trialled a few years ago; it actually dried a silvery grey which has been extremely popular for vintage weddings.

Our petals appeal to…
- Couples getting married for confetti to celebrate their marriage
- Romantics setting the mood for a cosy evening in or even a wedding proposal
- Anyone holding events looking for some colourful table decorations.  Petals look stunning scattered on white table cloths or in vases as a feature.
- Children at weddings – give them the job of handing out confetti and let them play with any left over.

Our office is…
A shed! We are very much a working farm and so our petal storage shed has rooms converted inside it for our offices.  This means we have everything to hand to send out orders.  It is very unique and luckily we don’t have to wear smart clothing.  You will see us in wellington boots and thick body warmers to keep us warm…but we wouldn’t change it for the world.

Our best ideas have come from…
We’re always on the look out for new ideas and get our heads together on a regular basis to come up with lots of new fun ideas! Everyone has an input here at Shropshire Petals and we love the phrase ‘anything is possible’! We love getting feedback from our customers and generate new ideas based on what our customers want.

Every bride should…
Supply their own confetti.  Most venues and churches now only allow and prefer natural petal confetti to be thrown at weddings, as it is biodegradable and eco-friendly.  Unlike paper or synthetic types, natural petal confetti requires no clearing up as it is just like blossom falling from a tree. Choosing to supply their own confetti means that they can choose what colour to have, which will guarantee a wow factor confetti photo, which they can treasure forever.

Prices start from…
Our confetti starts from £11.50 per litre.  A litre will give you approx. 10 handfuls.  We find that usually only half of the guest will throw, so using our confetti calculator online; brides can work out how much they will need for their special day. We also sell lavender, wheat, wheat sheaves and dried flowers, which start from as little as £2.75.
