Three Briarcliff Middle School students scored in the top 5 percent out of more than 130,000 participants in the 2016 American Mathematics Competition.

Ziad Chalabi, Vasu Gupta and Ari Mirsky earned Honor Roll recognition for their high scores. In addition, Kevin Cao, a sixth-grade student, received Achievement Roll recognition for scoring at least 15 out of a possible 25 points.

“We are very proud of our students who competed in the national exam,” said Mathletes advisor Svetlana Ryzhik. “Our team score – the sum of the top three individual scores – is 57 out of a possible 75. This score will allow us to be recognized on the Merit Roll.”

The Mathletes are currently preparing to participate in the national MATHCOUNTS competition.
