Wind fuels fast-moving fire on New Jersey shore
NJ.com: A fire that started inside an ice cream store has spread to 19 other buildings on a popular boardwalk in Seaside Park, New Jersey.
The blaze, which began just before noon at Kohr’s Ice Cream near the boardwalk, was swept up by a strong southeast wind and jumped to adjacent structures around 2:30 p.m., according to Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd.
Firefighters have been battling the blaze as black smoke continues to pour out of the popular dessert shop and other structures.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he is on his way to the area.
