Merriment and cheer always feels so great at the time doesn’t it?  When you’re out with friends and the drinks are a flowin’ it is way too easy to “forget” the fact you’ll likely pay for it all over again the next day by way of a nasty hangover.

If you find yourself partying a little too hard on a school night (who’s idea was it to invent the Monday Christmas party anyway?!) facing the office the next morning is a tough one. Not only do you feel revolting, but you probably look it as well! HA!

What you need are a few easy (yes, EEEASY…..) makeup tips to help you hide the evidence of what you’ve been up to. Dehydrated skin, under eye bags and an overall exhausted look are easily fixed with these simple tricks.

ESSENTIAL READING - BEAUTY HOW-TO: MINIMISE WRINKLES & STAY VITAL!

1. Reverse the effects of dehydration by keeping your skin clean and well-hydrated with a cream cleanser that removes impurities without stripping moisture.  Remove any traces of eye-makeup with a cotton pad and gentle eye-make up remover.

2. To relieve swelling and puffiness of the eyes, place ice-cubes in a wash cloth and hold over your eyes for 5 minutes. You can also use a cold spoon on each eye that has been in the fridge. Then gently apply a cooling eye-cream to freshen up. To remove redness and bloodshot, a few eye-drops from the pharmacy work wonders.

3. Moisturise entire face and neck with a light-weight cream that relieves dry, dull skin without feeling greasy. Add primer to the bridge of your forehead, nose and chin.

4. Use concealer to balance out dark circles under eyes. Yellow based colour concealers are best to correct dark areas. Take the concealer down each side of the nose and across to the outer corner of the eye (in a big triangle shape). Add a touch of shimmer into your regular foundation for an all-over-the-face instant radiance.

5. Cream blushes (especially rosy-hued varieties, nothing too brown) are better options over powdery ones in this instance as they create a glowing look to the apples of your cheeks and do not “age” the look of the skin. Apply with circular strokes moving away from your face.

6. Brighten your eyes by rimming your inside bottom lid with a white pencil or dab a highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes and under your brow bone. Curl your lashes and apply black mascara. A clean swipe of black eyeliner on the top lid only will open the eyes and make you look instantly fresher.

7. Finish off with a rosy or coral coloured lippie to compliment your now fresh, glowing look! Plus it’ll detract away from your tired looking eyes!

8. Also – get some mints…and use them.
