Gordon Clarence Kemps, age 92, Weston, died on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on April 26, 1924, the only child of the late Clarence and Esther (Pieper) Kemps.

On June 15, 1946, he married Erna A. Radue at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Wausau. The day of the funeral would have been their 70th Anniversary.

When he was a junior in high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He trained as a Flight Engineer, but ended up being a bombardier, flying 50 missions over Germany during WWII. Gordon retired from active duty and the reserves after 23 years in the Military.

After WWII, Gordon moved to Minneapolis where he attended Minneapolis Business College, earning a Business Administration Degree. He then worked more than 30 years for Drott Mfg/J.I. Case in Schofield. During retirement, Gordon and Erna enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world and square danced over 50 years in central Wisconsin. They also were in the Friday night golf league at Indianhead Golf Course.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Erna; one son, Jack (Patti), Wausau; one granddaughter, Shawna Kemps, Wausau; and one grandson, Steven (Kathy) Kemps, Gurnee, IL.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at St. Paul’s UCC, 426 Washington St., Wausau. The Rev. Phil Schneider will officiate. Visitation will take place from 09:30 am until the time of services, all at the church. Entombment will be at Restlawn Chapel Mausoleum
