I love sourcing gorgeous clothing that l am not going to see the next person in the queue at the post office wearing. But l refuse to spend a fortune either (unless l absolutely must have it!). So l have scoured the world to find the best places for you to get some authentic, gorgeous wardrobe additions at very Braggable prices.
I wanted to support independent brands in this feature, as they are the ones that work tirelessly to create great quality designs for us, and deserve a shout out. They are also the ones that you won’t find your neighbour wearing, cos they’re just not as cool as you.
Union Jane
Union Jane is a South Korea based fashion label, formed only in 2013. And look at what they have already created? Korean Fashion is awesome, and it just got better. I personally love their Snow Cutting Jeans, at a cool $74.99. The clothing ranges are simple yet striking, and just up my alley in taste and function. Their skinny jeans are true skinny jeans, and not just tight. This is a biggie for me as l love to wear boots, so a nice pair of stretch skinny jeans are perfect. I love the names of their jeans. It is cool that they say it like it is…for example: Jeans with All Over Rips, or Shirt Dress in Brown Stripe Print. The collection is worth checking out, and the prices are really well thought out.

Well, it seems that savvy twin sisters, Sarah & Sally Edwards, at BLAG Magazine just keep getting stronger and stronger with their production choices. They obviously have a great reputation for highly desirable content within their mag, and seem to possess other talents too, like drawing cool designs, and having them printed onto clothing, which sells well. We gave a lucky winner a limited edition BLAG Tee last year, signed by the girls and actor (and now clothing designer?) Tom Hardy, and it must have gotten rave reviews, because now, the ranges seem to be rolling in!
Now, you can buy more than just a tee from the clever bunch at BLAG here. We especially love the LONDON LOVE design, and at only £34.99, it’s affordable if you like printed tee’s, that aren’t run-of-the-mill. Extremely affordable, in this case!
Georgina Skalidi
Ohhhh, Goergina knows what she is doing. The girl has some serious grunt in her design approach! She designs and makes bags. But not just any old bag. Check out these awesome cool cork bags (yes, cork!) for €99. My personal fave is this swing purse, for €77.
Industrial Jewellery
Industrial Jewellery is just that, industrial. In that, it is made of industrial materials, like springs, ropes and rubber! You would never tell though, but knowing that each piece is unique, and tells it’s own story is very. very Bragagble!
BRADAMANT
I have been on the hunt for a bodysuit for ages. Yes, a bodysuit. I know they’re everywhere, but l wanted a really good one. The good ones are just so nicely fitted and stay in place, and will always look great under a blazer for work, or with a skirt or shorts. So imagine my delight when l came across this range of bodysuits in a very different theme than I was looking for! I really, really love the Warrior version, for $60, followed closely by the Coach, for $158.75. Very cool! The very clever Tamar Daniel came up with the idea of making her friends feel more ‘put together’ at work. The result was a one piece top, with bottom attached, keeping you nice and neat all day.
I’m not sure if there is a plain one in the range, which was initially what l was after, but whether l find it or not, l am totally adamant about Bradamant!
Life With Bird
I am scrolling through the Life & Bird Collections, and can’t find one thing to recommend to you. Because l love them ALL! This is a brand that started out in 2002, and have been going gung-ho ever since. It is the brainchild of Bridget, a Photographer & Fashion Stylist, and Nicholas, a graduate of the very acclaimed RMIT Fashion School. If l had to choose something l loved, l would say that these Kodak Pants are freaking awesome and would go with anything, from flats to heels, and a shirt or a tank. Gorgeous. And the Magic Hour Dress is absolutely yummy! Happy shopping!
Gorman
Right here in my hometown of Melbourne, Victoria, was an awesome brand created, called GORMAN. Created by Lisa Gorman, the brand is ethical and unique. You get a sense of tribal influences with modern flair, and the ranges are so diverse yet so tasteful for anyone and everyone, that it is bascially a one stop shop for a guarnteed buy. My fave item in their collection right now is the Neon Pop Dress. I really have to have this. It is gorgeous, and by the looks of it, doesn’t seem to billow out like other dresses of it’s type, making you look larger than you really are. They have several stores around Australia. Luckily, l don’t live far from Chadstone S/C, so l might make my way down to the shopping capital to see how it goes, and let you know!
So, that’s my August 2014 round up of my fave stores. Enjoy, and happy shopping!
