Tim was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. It doesn’t matter what your relationship with Tim was, you always knew that, whenever you needed him most – he’d be there. Although his first priority in life seemed to be helping others, he led a life of adventure, spontaneity, and world travel. He was always curious to learn new things. He possessed an incredible range of interests and knowledge. Whether it was to learn why a certain phenomenon occurred in outer space, or the “ hows and whys”, behind the construction of a historic building, Tim would keep researching, until he found the answer. He had a deep love, respect, and interest in nature. He was a member of the Trustees of Reservation, a New England conservation group. He was a member/contributor of WGBH-TV, the public broadcasting station in Boston. As most of us know, WGBH airs
wonderful programs covering a wide range of topics from nature to different cultures, and much in between – which reflect Tim’s own intellectual curiosity and love of learning. The world of aviation was the world that he loved most! He was one of those rare people, fortunate enough, to find his true passion, and then work hard to develop it into a rewarding career. Tim had proven himself to be one of those rare pilots, who went from soloing a small plane at age 16, to piloting one of the largest and most advanced aircraft in the world – the Boeing 747, “Jumbo Jet”. He flew the 747 over several continents, for Northwest Airlines. Although medical issues brought a premature end to his beloved, flying career, his zest for life and love of world travel continued. His personal travels had taken him all over the world. In spite of the loss of his aviation career, his love of learning, coupled with his innate desire to help people, had led him to the study of acupuncture and Eastern healing methods, and philosophy. He was a practicing acupuncturist for 13 years. He found avenues to help others. Each year, he worked hard to coordinate a special conference in Spain, where experts met to discuss treatment for addictions. All of us who knew Tim Kelley, who felt his healing touch, or who had benefited by his help, during a crisis, loved him. Although he left us much too soon, we are grateful to have had him in our lives.
Tim was a 1970’s graduate of Nathaniel Hawthorne College, NH, with a BS degree in Aviation Science. He was also a 2000 graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture. Tim was preceeded in death by his father, Daniel W. Kelley, and his younger brother, James J. Kelley. Beloved son of Virginia M. Kelley, of Sagamore Beach, MA; beloved brother and brother-in-law of Daniel W. Kelley, Jr. and Marianne V. Kelley, of Stratham, NH; beloved brother of Elizabeth A. Kelley of Warwick, RI and Katherine G.Kelley of Boston, MA; beloved uncle of Steven Cullen, of Seattle WA, and Brian C. Kelley, of Stratham, NH.
