academicmind:

Hello my lil tulips! I’ve received a lot of questions recently on what kind of pens I’d recommend for bullet journaling/note taking, so I’ve decided to give you an overlook on my favorite pens! All of these are interchangeable, but I prefer to use thick ballpoints for note taking and felt tips for my bullet journal.

Best Pens for Note Taking:
♡ Pilot G-2 ♡
OK NO JOKE I SWEAR BY THIS PEN. I like the bold size (1.0) for my lecture and book notes because it is fluid and hardly ever breaks with my handwriting. All Pilot pens are refillable, which helps those on a budget. This is a gel ink pen that has long drying times (up to 6 seconds depending on the paper), I wouldn’t recommend for bullet journaling or lefties. Despite the criticisms, you need this pen in your life!

♡ Uni-Ball Signo 207 ♡
This is an easily accessible and highly recommended pen. It comes in a lot of sizes (.38-1.0), so there is something for everyone’s handwriting style. These pens are designed to have fast drying ink, benefiting those who are fast writers. The only con is problem with the inkflow, which you can see above, but that’s a very small issue that might not happen with most. All in all, you can definitely depend on the Uni-ball brand to deliver!

♡ Muji Gel Pen ♡
Light, cheap, and great quality: Muji gel pens are the best of all worlds. These pens come in .38 - .7 sizes, have a large selection of colors, and have a steady flow of ink without breakage. I like to use these for annotations and smaller spaces that require finer lines. Only con: Muji pens have a more watery gel and have the tendency to bleed for slower writing. Even if they aren’t your number one, Muji gel pens should be a part of every pen collection.

Best Pens for Bullet Journaling:
♡ Staedtler Fineliners ♡
The Staedtler brand is all over studyblr for a reason! It has water based ink that dries very quickly on paper, and the tip can be left uncapped for hours and not dry out! I tend to use the Staedtler Pigment Liners for my bullet journal/doodles, but I have been using the Triplus Fineliners for rewriting notes if I have time to make em look pretty. I never have a problem with bleeding, but that has been a major concern with most, so tread with caution! Regardless, they are well worth their money and will last you quite a long time.

♡ Sharpie Pen ♡
The Sharpie brand has been at the forefront of quality for decades, and the Sharpie Pen doesn’t disappoint! If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to Fineliners or Stabilos, you have found it. Due to the versatility and low price of the Sharpie brand, I use my pens for just about everything! The only con to the Sharpie Pens is the lines aren’t as black as I’d like, probably due to the anti-smear and bleed technology (these are the BEST with highlighters so they are great for notes too). Many people use these as their main pen, and I can definitely see why!

If anyone has any other recommendations, feel free to reblog and add! These are just five out of hundreds of different pens. I tried to include a wide range of prices and capabilities to fit any budget or preference. Hope this helped those of you who asked!
