FIREARM SEIZED DURING INCIDENT #1

INCIDENT #1:  At about 1:43 PM on Saturday October 8, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 83 Maple Street in Roxbury.  Officers were on patrol when they observed an individual, later identified as Carlos Perez-Mejia, 23, of Jamaica Plain, behaving suspiciously while adjusting the waistband area of his pants, leading the officers to believe he may be armed.  The officers approached the suspect and performed a pat frisk at which time they immediately felt the handle of a firearm sticking out of his pants.  The officers were able to safely recover a loaded Glock semi-automatic handgun and place the suspect in custody without incident.  The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.



FIREARM SEIZED DURING INCIDENT #2

INCIDENT #2:  At about 9:37 PM on Saturday October 8, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force placed two suspects in custody on warrant and firearm violations in the area of 2 Sunderland Street in Dorchester.  The officers were on directed patrol when they observed an improperly registered motor vehicle commit a traffic infraction in the area of Normandy and Stanwood Streets.  The officers followed the vehicle until it came to an abrupt stop and both the operator, later identified as Christopher Williams, 25, of Boston, and the passenger, Christopher Hopkins, 26, of Scituate, quickly exited the vehicle and began to walk away.  When the officers approached to speak with the men, the operator shoved one of the officers and ran towards Blue Hill Avenue with the officers now in pursuit.  The passenger did not flee the scene and was compliant to officer’s commands.  The officers were able to catch up to the fleeing suspect at which time a violent struggle ensued as they attempted to place him under arrest.  Once the suspect was in custody, the officers were able to recover a loaded Interarms Rossi Model .38 Special revolver from inside the vehicle.  Officers later determined that the passenger was wanted on two outstanding warrants for Larceny from the Person and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.  Both suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.   In addition to his warrants, Christopher Hopkins will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition while Christopher Williams will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Resisting Arrest.



FIREARM SEIZED DURING INCIDENT #3

INCIDENT #3:  At about 3:32 AM on Sunday October 9, 2016, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 156 Standard Street in Mattapan.  During that incident, a blue BMW X5 was observed fleeing the scene after a person sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound.  That victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.  A short time later, members of the SWAT Team who were assigned to a city wide tactical response unit observed the suspect vehicle and stopped it in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road at which time numerous units arrived to assist.  Officers safely removed the three occupants of the vehicle who were later identified as a 17 year old juvenile male from Dorchester (operator), Jaury Pimentel, 18 of Roxbury (front passenger) and Kevin Mejia, 19, of Dorchester (rear passenger) and recovered a .357 Magnum revolver which was observed in plain sight on the floor of the vehicle.  The firearm contained no bullets, however, officers later recovered six spent shell casings from the juvenile suspect which he had attempted to discard.  Officers also learned that he did not possess a valid driver’s license.  All three suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court.  Jaury Pimentel and Kevin Mejia will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Firearm Discharged within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.  The 17 year old juvenile will be charged with Delinquent to Wit:  Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Firearm Discharged within 500 Feet of a Dwelling and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License.
