Salman Khan-starrer Kick made a clean sweep at the box office yesterday – a 100-per cent day-one opening – and raked in around Rs 25 crore all-India on day one. Sajid Nadidawala’s debut film as a director, the movie is holding steady today too and is expected to put up a tremendous performance over the weekend. Distributors believe it will raise the bar for all releases in the second half of 2014.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The first-day’s all-India collections of Kick were around Rs 25 crore, while in Mumbai, Rs 8 crore. Today, too, shows are house full but things are a little slower than they were yesterday.”
In Delhi-UP, Brijesh Tandon, HK Tandon and Company points out that Salman Khan has created history with his fourth consecutive hit during Eid. “In Delhi-UP, the first-day collections of the film were Rs 5 crore and occupancy is 90 per cent today as well.”
Adds Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies, “The film’s first-day collections in East Punjab are Rs 2.6 crore. Kick will definitely enjoy a grand weekend. There is no doubt that Salman Khan is the man with the Midas touch.”
In Rajasthan, Gaurrav Gaur of O’Real Imagination remarks, “Kick has opened to an impressive response in Rajasthan. Khan has returned with a bang and his film earned Rs 1.73 crore in Rajasthan yesterday.”
Ravi Machchar of Sahyog Films in Nizam adds, “Kick opened to a fabulous start yesterday and garnered Rs 1.6 crore by the end of the day.”
Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez says the first-day collections of Kick were Rs 1.2 crore in West Bengal. “It has performed really well. There is a slight drop in the numbers today but they will pick up over the weekend.”
In CP, Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films reveals that Kick wrapped day one at Rs 1.45 crore in his territory. “There is a 25-per cent drop today but the film will pick up over the weekend and is expected to earn Rs 100 crore after the weekend.”
In Bihar, Rakesh Singh of Maa Sona Films says, “Kick earned Rs 80 lakh in Bihar yesterday but it saw a 10-per cent drop in numbers today. The weekend will be splendid and with Tuesday being Eid, the film will enjoy a long weekend.”
In Orrisa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers concludes, “The collections of Kick are fantastic and the movie generated business worth Rs 33 lakh here. Today, there has been a dip in collections in small centres but the film is doing well in bigger centres and at multiplexes.”
