Situated on five hectares of rolling farmland and forest just outside of Bologna, this former farmers house was originally part of a larger estate that includes a manor house and converted barn. In 2003, a Russian antiquarian inspired by his love for nature and the area fell in love with the estate and began renovations for a dynamic project that would eventually include the charming B&B as well as an event and social space. The restoration process involved the renovation of each building with special attention to eco-sustainability through renewable energy sources, photovoltaic systems, water catchment, phytoremediation and biomass heating systems.
Constructed of concrete, brick and wood, the rustic bones and original materials of the house remain largely intact. The common area on the ground floor features a quaint sitting room and a rustic kitchen while the three bedrooms reside above on the second floor with views of the countryside. Furnished with rustic antiques, the home retains much of the original character and simple charms of the past.
The adjacent barn was turned into a spacious and refined loft, with industrial-style interior design and expansive light filled spaces for events and social gatherings and is also available for rent through Boutique-Homes.
