BOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossbeam Systems, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks, today announced that it will co-host a series of workshops with testing leader Spirent Communications in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, Brazil. The workshops will guide network security professionals on how to effectively deploy security solutions within their networks while maintaining the high levels of performance required for their businesses.

"Today's sophisticated security solutions offer great protection, but the problem vendors don't like to share is the impact these solutions have on network performance," said Rogerio de Campos Morais, general manager of Latin America at Crossbeam. "According to Crossbeam research, many security professionals simply choose to turn off security functionality to boost performance, while others are forced to make unplanned hardware purchases to maintain security and performance. The Crossbeam workshops are designed to help security professionals cut through the market confusion to demystify security performance and learn how to better gauge the capabilities of security solutions in order to reduce risk and avoid costly mistakes."

What:

In this workshop, Crossbeam will provide practical advice for network security engineers and architects involved in performance testing cloud and next-generation firewalls. Attendees will learn about the constellation of metrics that are important for defining network security in the real world.

The session will include real-world test scenarios in which an X-Series platform and traditional security devices will be stressed with traffic loads to simulate real-world conditions. The demonstration will use the Spirent Studio solution running on a best-in-class Spirent TestCenter C100 platform. Spirent Studio has been designed to generate real application traffic for use in testing firewall, IPS and other upper-layer filtering technologies. Attendees will see first-hand how changes to security policies impact network performance, and will gain better insight into the factors they need to consider when evaluating and building a high-performance security infrastructure.

When/Where:

Workshops will be held from 4-7 p.m. BRT at the following locations:

Sao Paulo: Aug. 29, 2012, at the Grand Hyatt hotel

Rio de Janeiro: Sept. 12, 2012, at the Sheraton hotel

Brasilia: Sept.19, 2012, at the Royal Tulip hotel
